Please make sure your meter is on volts DC and the battery is OK, and see if you get 24V instead of 12V...

I dont seem to be getting any power from the psu. Lights kick on for 2 seconds then off. I can only see them come on from a hole in the back of the screen. Not on the front at all.

New LCD screens make it quite difficult to see the light emission from the screen, especially in a well lit room... technology improves. Seeing the backlight from the rear is good enough for us but if you want to confirm it then turn out all the lights and the glow will be more visible.

thats a darfon inverter and one or more of the transformers are bad.
check acme-sales.net for replacements.$3 ea.

Is there any way I can test them to know for sure. I am capable of soildering. and using a multi meter. (somewhat). I like to learn though.

Set your meter to OHMS and put red probe on either 1 or 2 and black probe on 3 or 4. Record your readings. List them something like:

Trasformer 1
X.XXX
X.XXX

Transformer 2
X.XXX
X.XXX

I'm betting kc8adu is spot on since darfon transformers are known for failure.

1 & 3... OL
2 & 4... 00.0

all three of them have this same reaing. Also when I put my meter on the fuse by the cable coming into to the inverter it reads .000. I can post pics if nessesary.

Try measuring across 1-3 and 2-4 instead. Your meter should on 20kohms, if it is manually ranging.

Those are optocouplers, if the PSU is working, then they are fine.

Have you tested the power supply outputs e.g 5V, 13V, 24V, are they good?

Transformer windings are pin 1 and 2, and 3 and 4. You may have to clean off the flux on the pins to get good contacts.

ok I get no readings when testing the 24v pins or the 5v pins. meter just keeps cycling through numbers. Is the light bulb method a "must"? But the standby light is lit on the front. Tv does turn on and make start up music.

So now you are saying that you do not see he backligts at the back side of the LCD panel any more? You were seeing it before which means the 24V and the 5V must have been present before, and now they all dead?
What is the power supply board P/N ? Is it the saem as the orignal OP, BN44-00156A?

The lights come on for only for 2 seconds. when i put my red on the 24v pin, and my black on one of the ground pins on the power supply I get nothing.....unless I am doing it wrong

Can you show me the pciture? Try using the chassis for the ground instead. Is the board mounted on to the chassis?

When you say "meter just bouncing around" tell us what that means, how (un)stable is it?
