0.22v one way and 0v the other on both diodes in the component. (Diode removed from board and tested with DVM on diode test)

To be honest I dont the two paths its all amazing help I have had more ideas/suggestions this evening that the last 4 weeks of doing it on my tod.

Have you tested D352? Looks like it's got really hot. If it were leaky, it might stop the PSU from reaching full 5V.

Ok I will test D352 tomorrow after work I really need to get my head down I have a fair bit of driving to do tomorrow with an early start.

Thanks for your help this evening guys its been great and looking forward to tomorrow evening now.

          This is so strange.

Are you finding that BOTH diodes measure 0.22 in the forward direction (plus probe on diode anode, and minus probe on cathode), and BOTH read 0 in the reverse direction?

Or, is your meter one of those cheapo meters? I've never heard of a diode being shorted in one direction. Are you sure your meter isn't saying 'OL'?

            Hi ben,

Sorry was getting late for me last night.

Right the cathode is the middle pin on the IC and with the red probe on the middle pin and the black on either of the outer pins I get .0L

Witht the black probe on the cathode and the red probe on either of the outer pins I get 0.215v.

D352 id 0.00v in both directions on diode test. Im guessing this is bad?

Yep! There's your fault... It looks like it got very hot, probably run at above its maximum current due to poor design.

                  Ok reality check.

Would it of killed anything else on its way out do you think? annnnddddd where would I find one.

Thanks for your help and ben7's I was going mad round and round in circules before I came on here.

Re: LG 50PQ6000 unstable 5v standby

I doubt it. Usually when a diode fails (short almost always), the power supply goes right into protection mode, hence the low 5V... and it may explain the 12V measuring 0V, as it -might- be on the 12V rail.

There is a part # on the diode. You may have to remove it to read it. Then you can find a replacement.

Well done tom66 good fault finding skilles there mate.

Its a VSB3200 M944A. Is it supposed to be regulating the input to the regulator?

I don't know what that diode does but it's bloody hard to get hold of.

                        It's a 200V, 3A schottky diode. Special type of low-loss diode.

Highest I can find is 150V.
                          http://uk.farnell.com/stmicroelectro...-3a/dp/1702811

This may be an "install it, see if it works, and if it fails, source the 200V one" job. I doubt that diode sees 200V transients on the 12V output. Probably 3-4x that in reverse at most. But I didn't design this PSU, so I don't know.

I think I might have the TV fixing bug. Have yet to see if this is the fix but I really enjoyed working around the board and learnt alot.

Its a fast acting diode with low voltage drop between anode & cathode often used in reverse protection and/or voltage clamping well goto love the net.

0.39 ohm resistor (just in case) and capacitors.

There is a Farnell trade counter here in Leeds. It has a £5 minimum order. If I'm going up there soon, I could get you the items.

Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.

                                            Hi all.

I started a thread while back regarding TV power supply standby circuitry as it is something I am not quite on top of.
SMPS theory and function is becoming more familiar, however the standby part is still a bit of a mystery.

Anyway, a friend has this TV with the above mentioned power supply board which has no standby voltage, nor any other voltages leaving the board.
The mains AC comes in fine, gets filtered and rectified with power is on the main filter cap as well as the transformer and drain pins of the ICE3B0665J, but that's it.

Hello forum. I've recently been given a Yamaha TSX 120 DAB radio and ipod dock. Its working well however when put on standby its using 6.3 watts. The manual states less than 1 watt on standby. I measured this with a plug in monitor which seems accurate with other items. In use it uses around 7.5 watts. Firstly has anyone who owns a similar radio also got a plug in monitor to check if this is normal with this unit? In the first half a second the monitor shows 0.3 watts which I suspect is what it should use but something is switching it to be almost fully powered. I've searched the manual for eco...

                                            Hello,

I am trying to re-purpose this power supply that I saved years ago from a tv with a cracked screen for a monitor but that is not really that relevent at the moment. I do not recall which tv but a google search looks like it is from Wharfedale LTF37K1.

You may notice I made some alterations moving some components to the top and some wires which are from a 5v regulator I fitted to the 12v output as the monitor requires 5v. The standby was already at fault from the beginning, it has nothing to do with the alterations...

                                            Hello everyone,
I got a Samsung The Frame 55 inch TV for free from uncle cause it is not turning on anymore. I am in the second year of training as an electrician so I have knowledge already but I am far away from to be a pro.
The TV has Standby but ist not turning on. A Friend of mine owns a 50 inch Frame TV so I checked the One Connect Box and the One Connect Cable there. Both are good and working normally. I have opened the TV case and measured some voltages on the Board.
What I already found is that the 12.8V are not an the connector to the main board connector to the power...
