    Lg power on issues

Hi everyone, i have this old but functional LG lcd tv [26LG30R].The problem now is that when it is unplugged from AC and plugged back, the HW/AC reset switch has to be pressed before the tv will power on.
When it is off in standby mode it powers on normally till AC is disconnected, then the reset has to be engaged for the tv to power on.Any point in the right direction will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is the main board water damaged?

No there is no water damage just a little rust on those metals. The tv works fine when powered on.

If the metal bits have rust on it the board could have corrosion somewhere causing the fault.

i have checked the board entirely. The problem started about two weeks ago. There were some unusual power outages in our area so i don't know if that was the cause of the problem but i will clean off all rust and see if that helps. Thanks for reply.

How long are you waiting after you plug it back in? I would try waiting at least 5 minutes and see if the Standby Light comes on without pressing reset. I'm not sure if it will work but it's worth a try.

Just had a quick read through the manual and see no reset button? Can you show us a pick of the button you have to press to get it working again after unplugging.

Well what do you know, i left it on for almost an hour and the standby light came on.It wasn't like that before. The last time i left it for almost two hours and nothing.Maybe it was the cleaning solvent. Thanks for your help.

If it does it again check the 50v caps on the power board.

Normally low uf ones. Someone else may be able to help you more as i am just learning from here at the moment.

Do you have to wait 2 hours for the standby light?

Leave it off for a few hours so you know it wont come straight on, then, before plugging it in warm the psu up with a hair dryer for 20 seconds so its nice and warm, then plug it in. If the standby light comes straight on you know its a cap somewhere. Mine was a 50v cap that was the problem..

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

hey guys, hoping for some pointers to repair an eBay bought "faulty" laptop.

Ill try and give as much info as I can.

When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
                            Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has...

                            Original NES power issues
                            by sli4
I recently turned on my old NES to find the red light won't go on at all. When powered on it shows black bars on the tv and a loud buzz through the tv speakers. Powering it off, the buzz goes away and tv goes back to normal (white snow).

I tested the power supply itself and it is outputting 9V as it should - first two solder joints on the board at the power port show the same.

Here's where it starts getting funky - When powered on, one side of the 7805 voltage regulator is showing 18V and the other is about 8.7V (center 0).

On the big blue connector I get...
