A thank you to all members who posted information that allowed me to fix not one but two lcd TVs! I've never attempted this type of repair, but the information available through this forum allowed me to identify the bad capacitors and how to replace them. My son-in- law gave them to me to sell or fix. I gave one back to him and kept the other. What a deal...........

No, most of the money goes to the resellers and middlemen who import the stuff (i.e. big chain stores). The Chinese manufacturers usually get just enough to keep the business going. But like you, I have no "moral qualms" either way.

Congrats on the fix, jimdandar! The only way to make things last nowadays is to fix them yourself.

Congrats on the fix, jimdandar! The only way to make things last nowadays is to fix them yourself.

Margins are a couple percent in the TV market. For big ticket items (like 50 inch plasma displays etc) it's higher. They make very little from the actual TV itself - it's selling the accessories that they love.
