I would say T-con... common failure on Samsung TVs.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vertical white fading lines on Sams LED
Do the lines affect the menu, such as the setup menu or volume control?
Do the lines fade in slowly, or suddenly appear? After appearing, do they stay as they are, or do they fade in?Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vertical white fading lines on Sams LED
yes lines are shown on menu, settings, and all inputs.
when first turn on tv it slowly fades in, then when watching the line fade on the left side and right side. but the white lines seem to stay. 2 days ago pic was great for only few hours but right back to line been like it sinceComment

Re: Vertical white fading lines on Sams LED
The only board capable of creating "fading" effects is the T-con, as far as I am aware.
I found one seller for $56:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samsung-UN...#ht_1581wt_736
That's a lot to pay - you may be able to get it cheaper elsewhere. Also, disassemble your TV and find the T-con to get the exact part code, it may be different. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vertical white fading lines on Sams LED
I've had quite a few TV's where it seemed the T-Con was the culprit and that did not turn out to be the case. Without a scope could never determine whether it was the panel or main board but I suspect the main board in at least a couple times.
One case was a 26" LG, picture would freeze horizontally, sometimes a white screen. After heating up would work normally. Replaced t-con, same result. Sold lcd panel and power supply which worked for buyers. Last part left is main board.
My next tool purchase will be Tom's Rigol scope when he upgradesComment

Re: Vertical white fading lines on Sams LED
I have found bad caps where the capacitance (uF) tests fine and some where it even tests higher.
It looks like a t-con fault, but I suppose you can't rule out the power supply - Samsung have a lot of power supply faults too. The newer ones don't generally suffer from bad caps though.Last edited by tom66; 09-26-2012, 01:45 AM.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Re: Vertical white fading lines on Sams LED
After talkin 2 another tech he was thinking it was the panel & not the tcon, does that sound right? Is the panel a common problem on a Sam. LED. Do u think it's worth trying a tcon 1st if not I don't believe it worth replacing panel due 2 cost... Any input would be greatly appreciativeComment

Re: Vertical white fading lines on Sams LED
It COULD be the panel, but that basically writes off the TV. Panel failures usually affect only one half of the picture, not the whole picture. A t-con would be a good gamble if you saved the TV and if you can get it cheap. (Usually, t-cons are around $20 each, so you might consider making the seller an offer on it - it's worked before for me.)Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Re: Vertical white fading lines on Sams LED
its definitely a bad panel. it looks like it anyway. panel failures affect any portion of the screen whether partial or all of it.
Especially if the picture ghosts its 99% bad panel. Its definitely a tossup, but im betting on the panel.Comment

Especially the repeating lines, affecting the whole screen? New T-con fixed it.
These two pics are budm's. Both bad t-cons:

(Samsung panels in Sony TVs.)
This video is an example of a bad panel; the problem only affects half of the screen (AUO panel): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=purk_SyiT44&feature=plcp
Bottom line is, panel failures usually only affect parts of the screen or cause screen-wide ghosting. They rarely affect the whole screen with lines - that requires multiple gate-driver ICs on the tab bonds to have failed. Now, I have less experience with newer Samsung panels - so it could be different now. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

by Stanley1843Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

by brad2157I picked up a Vizio E70-E3 for free that shows Vizio logo and then goes to a black screen. Original owner said he started having wifi issues and then he tried to reset the TV and that's when it wouldn't boot up any longer after his reset attempt. I picked up a replacement main board from eBay that matches the same model # board as the original from the TV.
Original main board - Shows Vizio logo when TV powers on, then goes to black screen. Doesn't boot up. No screen issues with any lines on start up Vizio logo.
Replacement main board - Boots up fine, but starting... -
by thstuffThis "free from a friend who was going to recycle it" SONY BRAVIA XBR-55A8H arrived with the bottom center RED LED repeating a four flash pattern. It was treated with kid gloves and was reported to have "just gone dead" and the OLED panel has no dents in the metal frame or cracks.
Thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1091829 helped in proceeding as follows:
1) Unplugged, then plugged set in while holding the remote VOL- and Power to factory reset.
2) Waited 30 seconds, then pressed remote Power button and "Select language"...01-30-2023, 05:01 PM -
