I have a Samsung LN40C630k that worked great until one night while watching tv it just died. The Standby light is on, but no picture or sound. Any ideas for a fix? Is it the power supply board or main board or possibly a fuse? The set is a month away from being two years old. Thanks for the help!

Re: Samsung LCD will not power on!
There should be a fuse or possibly two fuses on the power board, main board TCon and Inverter boards. If you will take the back off the tv and take a picture with all boards hooked up and then one of each board individually back and front. Post them with the attachments section under Go Advanced under the Quick Reply box. Someone will try and help. It would also be good for you to list your experience with repairs of this type if any. Also what type of equipment you have multimeter, soldering irons etc.
If you know how to test with a mulitimeter put the meter in the ohms setting and check across each fuse and your reading should be around 0.1 or 0.2 ohms for a good fuse. Over 1 ohm the fuse needs to be replaced.
Make sure the picture size is 2000 x 2000 or less.Have you ever stopped to think and then forget to start thinking again?

Re: Samsung LCD will not power on!
Thanks again for all the replies... I am about to take pics now. I read somewhere about unplugging the power supply board from the main board and seeing if the backlight comes on and that will help with identifying the problem.
Just did it and the backlight did come on.
Taking pics now....thanks again!Comment

Re: Samsung LCD will not power on!
On the left side of the power supply/inverter combo board just above the connector with black wires, there is a label telling us what the pins are for, the picture is not in focus to be able to read. Can you post better pictures that are in focus? we need to be able to read and see what are on the boardsNever stop learning

Re: Samsung LCD will not power on!
Do you have a multimeter and do you know how to take DC voltage readings? If yes, measure all the voltages on CN802.
BTW, we are going to need clear focused pictures of the top left hand corner of the power supply so we can see the legend.
edit: budm beat again me while I was trying to read those out of focus pictures.--- begin sig file ---
If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.
We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Re: Samsung LCD will not power on!
ok, so sorry for the bad pics...I do not have a multimeter, soldering gun, or ever used either. Will be working on that. It seems my camera is not quite good enough to get the legend in focus. working on that alsoComment

Re: Samsung LCD will not power on!
Just wanted to update the status of this post. Turns out the problem was the main board. I ordered the repair kit from shopjimmy.com, (seemed like such a better deal than ordering just one part, and was in stock) replaced the main board and five minutes later the TV was up and running. My next objective is to learn how to use the equipment needed to test and repair the old main board. Thanks all for the assistance!Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by repair-itI am attempting to test a samsung power supply board to verify the pfc ic is working. I am powering up the board with my isolation transformer. The board turns on fine but when I attempt to connect the ground for the scope probe, it trips out the isolator. I was taught not to 'float my scope' so I am wondering if I should test without connecting the ground lead or would that be asking for trouble? Not sure how else to test, I don't have a portable scope. I could plug direct to mains power but that would bypass the safety factor.
