    Vizio VO42L FHDTV10A

I have a Vizio VO42L FHDTV10A when I turn it on the vizio logo goes from amber to white. I get no sound. but I have done the flashlight thing and see very dim video. I have noticed on the main inverter board that the chip is missing a pin and looks burnt. on the slave inverter it looks normal. on the main inverter when the tv powers up there is a blue led that lights for a short time and then goes out. will the sound return when I repair the inverter or is this a different problem.

Was a source hooked up to the tv when you did the flashlight test? Obviously if there is no audio going to the tv from a source then there will be no audio coming out of the tv . That chip on the inverter appears bad with the little burnt hole in it. What is the board number on the inverter. I have a few spare vizio master and slave inverter boards.

tonight I connected up a video source and noticed on the screen that I had to press the input 2 times quickly in order to move through the inputs. I do have sound and video. I have included pictures of the inverter in question. thanks for your help.

Sounds like you have typical inverter failure, PWM IC blew up and shorted MOSFET's.

These board will also need modification.

          Re: Vizio VO42L FHDTV10A

I just checked my boards and they are NOT compatible with your model.

You can get a repair kit from ebay and do the repair yourself
          http://www.ebay.com/itm/6632L-0470A-...item19c2622c67

Or you just get another board from ebay
          http://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-6632L-047...item3cc99e027c

I don't know how good your soldering skills are but if the shoe was on my foot i'd probably opt to just getting another board. That 16 pin-ish chip looks a little scary.

I thought I would try to remove and solder a new chip. The hotair rework station works great but looks like there were several traces lifted. I also ordered an inverter and replaced it. The tv is now working.

mr bill, new to forum pleased to join very helpful information and great ideas and advice i have picked up on. i narrowed the problem to the blacklight inverter.thx to all that have participated. you did say earlier in thread that you have spare vizio inverter boards and I was wondering if you have a spare 6632L-0481A PPW-EE42VF-0 rev 1.6. and if so how much.

I have purchased from Ebay some new boards(totally different, much newer design) for $38 shipped/total and they work great.

What part numb did you order on ebay? and i assume it was for vizio v042l fhdtv10a. ive seen this part 6632L-0481B it is rev. 1.7 as well as 6632L-0503A. all claimed by shop jimmy.com that are compatible inverter boards. whereas the bad board ( the original part is 6632L-0481A rev 1.6). will the rev 1.7 work do you think? are they better than the original? or should i just stay with the original parts to be safe? just dont know really how different they are and if it could ruin other bords connected to it being different parts and possibly different structural builds. thanks for any info

I've got this style, but they were much cheaper back then.

Vizio E55-E1 bad backlights or bad inverter?

I just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.

I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

We've had our Vizio VO42L since before 2010, and it's worked flawlessly this entire time. However, just recently it started emitting a high-pitched buzzing/humming sound. I followed the basic troubleshooting tips of just unplugging it for a moment, and even holding down the power button while doing so, all to no avail.

Furthermore, after I attempted these basic steps and powered the TV back on it would always begin visually flickering while the sound stuttered. After a few moments of being turned on this would go away, but it still periodically comes back.

                      I also...

                      Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...
