No, Panasonic very rarely have bad caps, extremely unlikely to be the problem.
    Suspect a shorted SC board.

Thanks! But i read that 4 blinks is P board. For SC board is 6 blinks
      viz. 6 blinks: Driver SOS 1 SU-Board / SD-Board / SC-Board / SS-Board (SC/SS Energy Recovery Circuit)

Is there any possibility to prove which board is broken? By mutimeter, or by connecting and disconecting boards and watching led error codes?

        Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/

If the SC or SS shorts it will cause a mis-detection of P board fault leading to 4 blinks.

You can determine the failed board by unplugging the SC board or SS board.

When the SC is unplugged, if it is the P or SS it will blink 4 times, otherwise it will blink 6 or 7 times.

When the SS is unplugged, if it is the P or SC it will blink 4 times, otherwise it will blink 8 times.

With both boards unplugged, if it is the P then it will blink 4 times, otherwise it will blink 6, 7 or 8 times.

So i try it. Looks like SC?

All borad plugged blink 4 times
SC is unplugged blink 7 times, and electric smell from upper part of SC (strange, because is unplugged)
SS is unplugged blink 4 times
          Both unplugged blink 7 times

I try to probe with multimeter. Set to 200 ohm. And on SC connector show me nothing, but sometimes "flash" between 100-195..

So SC is bad on this model.

              Re: Panasonic G20 Failure :/

              Hello from Finland,

Also my Panasonic TXP50G20 died last weekend. At first the led of death gave 4 blinks.
Then I started to diagnose the problem guided by instructions given previously in this topic. I diagnosed that SC board was dead because:

              Both plugged 4 blinks
              SC-unplugged: 10 blinks
              SS-unplugged: 4 blinks
              Both unplugged 10 times

SC board had also burnt circuits. So I ordered another SC-board from ebay and installed it.. Now TV won't start but the led has changed its signal. Now it gives:

              Both plugged 6 blinks
              SC unplugged 7 blinks
              SS unplugged 6 blinks
              Both unplugged 7 blinks

According to service manual of TCP50G20 (not sure if the codes are the same in my model TXP50G20) 6 blinks mean SC energy recovery unit or A-SC FPC DET. Have you guys any idea what are those or is also my new (used) SC-module somehow faulty. Or do you know if there is any difference between SC-cards in models TXP50G20E and TXP50G20B.

What should I do next before I give my money to official Panasonic service guy?

I would be glad for any help.

When I push the power switch the screen flashes for a second, goes black again and then the led gives six blinks.

This is a common SC board failure, although there are also reported issues with the A board causing mis-diagnosis of 6 blink error.

Quick question: Do the green LED's stay on or fade out after a few seconds? Is the fading out normal? I have a long post with pictures coming soon but the answer to this question might help diagnose the problem. Thanks

They should stay lit as long the plasma panel is being sustained (making a picture appear.)

It's possible the Sc you got was bad. just received a bad one from EMOS TV myself although I never installed it, just belled out the parts and found 3 transistors shorted and also suspect shorted SU board. And this was from someone with 20years in the business?

I have also had the displeasure of not checking the SU/SD boards for short and blowing a good SC TNPA5081 board. from what I've seen so far SOS6 generally ends up being a bad SC.

You could jumper SC50 , disconnect the buffer boards and confirm or meter out the board on all the large transistors and diodes for short.

watch out for the onboard green LEd to light on the SC if only for a moment. Have also had one of these go open and force a SOS6 but that would be a rare fault.

Nobody in the business ever tests the boards pulled from TVs, other than attempting to power up the TV before they are pulled. If there are suspect boards they are sold faulty. You really think every used board supplier has a jig to test SC, SS etc boards?

Well there's a lot of liars out there then Tom if that's the case. Definitely claimed to have been tested and i even gave him a list of known FETs which go short on this board for him to confirm to which he simply referred me to google his business suggesting he knows what he's doing.

Does not take much to get the meter out and test for shorts. most of us here seem to handle that.

                            A fool I must be.

Testing transistors is fair enough, but I had a faulty SC board with nothing shorted, at all, still didn't work -- in the end, apparently one of the gate driver ICs is a common failure, but I'm not sure if that was the fault. Thing is, with a cracked screen, you can't tell if the SC, SD, SU, or SS are good, and a cracked screen can potentially damage the SU and SD. The only thing you can do to be sure is to install it in a known good TV.

You are right, it's rare that people have the setup to test but there are some that do, like this place:

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock

I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

                                    After all of...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
                                    by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...
