Yeah you're right! I see it now.

It doesn't glow on the SC and the SS when the SC power is plugged in.

    Thank you!

No, that's because it sounds you've suffered a shorted SC board like quit a few of us now so there's no VS voltage being generated by the PSU.

If you disconnected the power from the SC board, you'll probably find 7 blinks and the LED on the SS board will illuminate for a few seconds then gradually dim once the 7 blinks and shutdown occurs.

        Exactly.

Oh, I thought Tom had pointed that out. If you've disconnected the SC and now get 7 blink then it's the SC board. I think you said 10 and 4 blinks. I had a straight out 4 blink which is a PSU code but the SC completely shorted the VSus voltage(190-200V) on the PSU so that is why the PSU code but the PSU is not the problem.

I'd expect if you disconnected the power from SS and had the SC connected you'll still have whatever code you had originally 10 or 4 blink.

Someone else here recently had 10 blink and was SC board.

From the manual, 1 of the conditions for 10 blink
Shorted Vsus (By the SS board or SC board).

The hard part will be finding a replacement at a good price. Those revisions all worked in my TV. AF was the original board.

I've purchased 2 extras as spares but it looks like I'm about to lose one to a relative with the same TV

Google. ebay, ebay UK, shopjimmy( nearly out of all versions!) and probably a bunch of others you'll find with google. maybe search for broken TVs (screen damage)for sale although this board is suffering a high failure rate I feel so you can't exactly test a broken TV before purchase.

There are different TNPA5081 for the 42,46,50 & 54" models so you'll have to watch out for that. Not everyone knows what they're selling.

I just wanted to make sure it was the SC.

Thank you very much both of you. Now I'll try to find the part.

You received it and it was damaged or did they not ship it because it was no good.

                    What was broken?

I had a quick chat with an Ebay seller GTVWATFORD in the UK who's starting to do up SC board repair kits, Asked him if he had plans for the TNPA5081 and he came back and set yes but still early days as he's testing them and there's one more component he's waiting for.

Reckons he'd got 10 boards to build. At least someone out there is having a good go at saving these boards.

I asked for it but the sales person doesn't know. The warehouse refused to ship it.

They did the right thing. Probably an untested board or they have a policy of checking prior to shipment.

They're out there but not too cheap.

                            YES!

After a couple of emails Panasonic finaly agreed to repair the TV free of charge. I have to bring the TV to the service center this saturday.

The service manual shows TNPA5081, and the sticker on my SC board shows TNPA5081AF. I cannot find a board with the last two characters AF anywhere on the web. Would a TNPA5081AW board be similar enough?

Sorry for the confusion, first time trying to fix my TV.
FYI, I ordered a new SC board from shopjimmy http://www.shopjimmy.com/panasonic-t...u-sc-board.htm, replaced the board and everything is working perfectly. The board is version AP, so I can confirm these are compatible with the 50G20.

Thanks for the help guys! So happy not to have to buy a new tv.

Well done. I sent an email myself letting them know how problems people are having.

I suspect by the response they can't admit liability but I got the idea that they would have assessed and repaired it out of warranty too.

Problem is i buy these to fix so i can't really claim to be the original owner with no receipt and that's who they want to look after.

I've had one item with Panasonic done out of warranty like that in 21 years.probably why I stick with the brand.

Maybe put a separate post up explaining what happened as it may help others get the same deal.
