    flexing screen to remove lines

I think i once read a post on here about how you can get lines from applying too much pressure to the front of the screen (without cracking the glass), because it disconnects some micro fine wires in the panel that run to each transistor.

Has anyone encountered this and tried to flex the screen cautiously in the reverse direction to see if that makes the connection reconnect, and removes the lines.

(Someone posted a tv with lines from an impact on craigslist for free basically, but with glass not broken, just a few vertical lines after the tv got hit / pressed on. Not sure if its worth my time to pick it up and take it appart to try flexing / warming it to see if i can get the lines to reappear)
Fixed so far 12 lcd's , 1 plasmas, 5 monitors, 0 dlp's (plan to keep the dlps at 0). and 3 atx power supplies, and 2 motherboards.

Well if it's free and still available, I see no harm in trying it. The very least, you could get some money from parting it out.

    Otherwise, I have no idea.

The lines occur due to internal short circuits and opens between the matrix of transistors. I wouldn't generally consider it repairable.

Re: flexing screen to remove lines

I have learned my lesson with this kind of issues and I will stay away from "lines on screen" issues. It's a waist of time and money(I've lost $225 untill now).

          Yes!

I got a freebie Acer Core 1 Duo laptop on February 7 and flexing the screen makes all vertical lines go away!

            Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
            by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
            by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Hitachi 58HK6100U - Horizontal Lines (Bottom third of the screen)
            by kdaniel
As stated by the person I collected the TV from, it just stopped working overnight. However, I still gave it a go to try and repair it.

There is a thread on the same TV but with slightly different issues where they had to tape connection points on the ribbon cable, so I want to see if this is repairable by any chance.

After bringing it home and plugging it in, the TV turned on with its backlight working but had no picture. After removing the back cover, the first thing I tried is to unplug one of the ribbon cables and the situation is as follows.

            Left...

Sony KD-55XG9505 lines on screen problem
            by Chrissygizmo
            Hello again everyone,

This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…

I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried...

            Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
