Jvc lt32a61sj/bj audio but no picture

    hi there!!
I have a "JVC LT32A61SJ (or BJ not sure) interiart" tv, which has no picture but audio is working fine.when switching on I can see the backlight but the picture is black and only audio is working. By pressing buttons on the remote control the tv 'responds' but no picture as said.
I will try to fix it myself to save me some costs though I am not a soldering wizard ..

Do you have any hint on where to look for the usual suspect?!Could it be smthng simple like a fuse?! or a bad capacitor?

many thanks in adv for any help

    Welcome to the forum-
It could be something simple as a connector loose or a blown fuse - possibly on the Tcon board or main video board.

We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Do you have a multimeter and can you use it?

Don't JVC's have the photocell on the main board that erases the ROM if power is turned on with the back off? You may need to find and cover it if it does. I'm sure someone will help you locate it if your model has one.

Thanks for the info ! Then in order to be prudent, i will not turn the tv on when i take the back cover off. Btw the back cover did not have any special screws or connectors for the tv to "realize" that the back cover is open.

My plan is to open the back cover, take some pictures of frame and boards, look for any visible traces of bad caps or burned fuse if any and revert

Yeah JVC lock-out "feature" - erases the HDCP encryption keys - nasty! TV will still work but won't play back encrypted HD content.

From a first look no swollen or damaged capacitors identified either to psw or main board.Of cource i have to desolder the metal frame of the main board to check the caps underneath ..
Perhaps it is no easy way here, i guess as a next step, i'll go get myself a polymeter.
If your experienced eye sees smthng more in these pics i would be obliged

The main board is likely okay.

Can you take a picture of the whole chassis (all boards visible from back.)

Also, please use the Manage Attachments feature of this forum, as it is better for future users who might need to see those pictures.

Hi can you have another look at the two green caps circled in yellow top left of pic
they look a bit odd? (leaky)

I have also taken the liberty of uploading your pics.

                        Are these Lelon caps?

EDIT - Sorry Caps look ok in pic 1084z

Thanks for helping out and the attachments!!

Checking the diagram this is what i found.

I guess "Lelon" is a particular cap brand but i have to check it out later the day as i am not at home.

I will try also to check with the polymeter but i dont know how much voltage to apply

I disassembled the psw and saw that on top of the green Lelon caps there some traces of white smthng, dont know if it was dust though. I used the polymeter and tested resistance while placed the 200kΩ limit. The three green Lelon caps show value towards infinity, only the forth bigger green one shows a steady value of 3.4. also in the last pics and especially dsc1099 you can see the solder side end of the caps.Do you think ,that the board is ok?

I dont know if i used the polymeter correctly. If you see something else pls advise

what type of meter are you using to test the capacitors its best to use a esr meter imo.

I dont think we can do much until it is established if it has the TRAP switch.

So does anyone know what the trap switch might look like and how to disable it?

                                @misterg -
When it was on and the back light was on did it stay on and the power led light stay on.

That is, you had sound and backlight -so working normally but just no picture.
did you try different signal sources ?

Was this your set? were there any symptoms of failure before the picture didnt show
                                flickering/banding.snow?

I have not tried other digital sources. Symptoms of failure not aware of as the set belongs to my wife's sister. As I understood from her saying the set suddenly showed this problem.

I have performed this morning this step :

Disconnected the PSW board from the Main board. Placed the ground of the PSW board. Gave power to the PSW board. Set the round multimeter dial to the 200V, checked the four Lelon caps in question. The three in a row caps showed a value of 13V each. The forth bigger one showed no value at all.
I went to the electronics shop and purchased the forth one. (Lelon 1000uF 35V). Will replace it this afternoon.Hope I am lucky

Hey Misterg You'd get extra point for a pic of your meter off one member but im not sure if he would knock points off for the way you are using it.
In your pic I am not sure what you are measuring and you may be correct but the meter is set on 200VAC whereas most board measurements would be DC?

The Problem: This player has a toggle switch to select between Stereo, Mono R, and Mono L. Regardless of the setting it outputs the sound to both the L&R audio jacks. In the Mono R position, the audio output level is normal (from both the L and R audio output jacks), in the Stereo position the audio output is about half the volume, and in Mono L, it's about 3/4 the volume. Something about putting it into Stereo mode is causing the volume to drop significantly and I can't figure it out.

The player processes the audio signal using two different reference frequencies. The "R"...

Hi members, I came across this forum when searching a fault on my LG 55UB850V TV.
Rather than hi-jack another members post/thread I thought I should start my own even though it's an almost identical issue.

The thread I refer to can be found here:

My boards are the same, and my issue it the same. I have NO Picture and NO Sound. Nothing. When first turning on the TV at the...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                                          Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                                          First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                                          Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

Hello, everyone. A neighbor was throwing this TV away for "not turning on" so I asked for it and they gave it to me for free since Vizio gave them a new TV under warranty.

I'm pretty proficient with electronics in general but this is the first TV I've ever tried to fix. I strongly suspect bad LED lights but figured I'd post some info and see if those of you more experienced with TVs can confirm my suspicion before I move forward. Some photos and measurements below:

The power supply only has two outputs, one output cable going to the main board and the other...
