it was the main fuse that feeds the primary side, the one near where the 240v plugs onto the board.

yes needed tool, but luckily my boss had one at work, only thing was i didnt adjust it so the first one i crimped just pulled out....so decided to tin the wire with a bit of solder then they crimped good, then i took them back to work and realised i could of adjusted them properly!

overall cost of repair was £10.84

    fuses £2.16
    capacitors £4.69
    connector £3.99

The fuse was on the primary or secondary?

This fault has been seen in other TVs. It's very dangerous. Did you need a crimp tool to fix the connector?

no mate, see pic on first post, i had to replace the connector and there was 1 bulging 2200uf 35v cap, so i put new connector and socket on and replaced all the 2200uf 35v caps (x3) and the power board fuse (T5Amp). it had blown due to connector failure so had to order some fuses from ebay(couldnt find them any where else), but it said on the listing they were from Hong Kong so thought id have to wait ages but luckily they must have sent them from a company over here in the uk

its lucky the tv didnt catch fire!

them leaded fuses are a real pain in the arse to get over here!

Great to hear... so the fuse just blew on its own with no other failure?

Yes its the main fuse on the power board, think ill do that, just to test its ok then wait for correct fuse to come, thanks for input matey, if I get any more trouble when ive put the parts in I will post more pics and model etc

If it is the main fuse, it may blow due to high inrush current. Is this the main fuse? You can try running it without the Inverter boards connected since they are the one that draw the most current.

i managed to get the same connectors male and female off ebay so recrimped the cables and put new socket and plug on, just waiting for the caps to come theres 3 in total but only one bulging so thought id just replace all 3 while im in there

another problem is ive had to order fuses from hong kong (T 5 Amp PCB Leaded) but not sure wether i can wait up to 4 weeks for them

ive got some T 3.15 Amp leaded fuses so not sure wether to just bang one of them in for the time being if it'll run, what do you think? just try it and see or wait for the right ones?

what could have caused this?? burnt connector

repair on a 42" lcd, found this and 1 bulging cap

ive ordered caps and changed the connector and fuse

this picture is the invertor supply cable that comes from E301791 PSU

could it just be a bad case of bad caps or something else?
