• under the heatsink there are 3 more coils, on my working board the 1 closest to the powerbutton shows 1V , the other 2 both 0,8V. On the broken board the 0,8V is not present, that is cpu vcore. I suspsect the dual n-channel mosfets are maybe broken.
The working board takes about 550mA, the broken only 250mA.

• I was thinking of a bios issue, I tried these steps https://bytespeed.com/nuc-bios-recovery-by-security-jumper/
but no luck,
Oddly these jumper method is mentioned on the Intel site but the link is not working anymore

• I have the same issue with the same board. Also the coil voltages and the 0,02V
I have also another working example and there I can measure 0,85V on this coil where there is 0,02V. It drops to 0,78V with hdmi attached.
On your photo there is another big coil near the hdmi, but there I find 0V also on the good board.
And on the other side of the board another coil near the battery connector with 1,5v

My broken device was running hot and not always rebooted normal. Therefor was always on, but recently it was powered off for some days, and since then no signal no...

• Asus ROG G513Q

Laptop seems to turn on but black screen, no beeps. The rgb keyboard backlight is working also white powerled and airplane mode led, battery charge led is orange. No reaction on capslock key.
I van measure 3,3V on a coil when powered on. But I can't find 3,3V when not powered on but leds are working (charge led when power is connected). Also no 3,3V on pin 8 of the winbond 25q16 bios chip.
So my guess is that POST is not completed, but why? bad bios, bad cpu?
When turned on I find 0,8V after the coils of cpu vcore, on thermal cam I see these 4 coils and the cpu are warming...

• So a little update here. motanya was right! The very first mosfet (SM4378 N-channel) only measured 2 ohms. I think it got damaged when there was a shorted cap, pulling much amps and overheating this mosfet. I replaced it with AON 6426 and now it is charging OK.
I still have that battery fuse error when using the Diagnostic Power test, but that is related to the recup HP charge cable that I use on the bench supply. With the orginal HP adapter no fuse error! Also this HP test cable is only charging when the laptop is OFF.

I wondering if there is...

• HP X360 convertible battery blown fuse error, not charging

HP Modelnumber: 14-dh0061nb
This laptop had a shorted cap on a Vcore section. After replacement is works again. But there is still a battery issue.
The battery is HT03XL and with the built-in component test from HP, in the Power section, I get an error: Logic State: Calibration required (20), Charge state: Blown Fuse (42)
I have another same battery, also with error: Logic State: Very Weak (70), Charge state: Blown Fuse (42)
And a third battery TF03XL (looks identical) with error: Logic State: OK (0), Charge state: Blown Fuse (42)
All these 3 batteries are charging...

• HP X360 no boot, no image, cpu heating

HP Pavillion x360 convertible model:14-cd1023nb
Mainboard: Chewbacca_14_WHL_DIS_2G

On power connection, orange powerconneted led.
I can measure the shown voltages.
When pushing the power button, white power led for 3sec, the blinks every 3sec. At this 3sec pulse I can measure shortly the voltages shown with a *. These voltage with a * are not there if power button is not pressed.
I can't understand when there is no cpu voltage, why the cpu is getting warm? warm enough to make the blue cooler bloc feel warm.
Can't find any shorts....

• Re: MSI GF63 thin 9SC no display, 30s shutoff

I can measure on all coils voltage, except 1 , the leftmost of the 6 coils at the cpu (without heatpad on the photo)
So I have 3.3 and 5 on the coils at the right with the bog caps, ram, cpu, gpu, bat,... see orange text on the photo.

I see it also charges the battery, white led and going up in voltage 12.30V (batt says 11.4V)

I can't get the short boot while on battery. Only with mains and with or w/o battery attached. It is not even 30 sec, maybe 15s and then shutdown.

Funny that...

• MSI GF63 thin 9SC no display, 30s shutoff

This laptop has liquid spill, some traces visible on MB of sticky remains, no corrosion. Oddly the cmos battery was only at 1.4V for 2019 machine? Used a new one.
After some clean up with ISO, there is some life in it.
With lcd connected but without keyb/TP, SSD, RAM, I see a short white blip at the powerled, when pushing the power button. 1 out 3 times it seems to boot, sort off: all voltages are there, powerled is orange, keyb BL is on, fans spin and rasing speed slowly, no screen, but after 30sec, shutdown.
With ram inserted, I can't get it to boot. I tried other ram already....

• Mbp15 a1707 820-00928-a

This MBP was throwing messages about battery needs replacement (original battery and charger), and suddenly no reaction at all anymore.
Very clean device, no liquid damage, no drops. Battery not swollen.
Inside I found some small glass fragments, after a closer look these fragments are coming from the top of the power management chip U1100. The whole top of this chip is blown off!
Never seen that before, I'm wondering what went wrong here?
Any ideas if this logic board is repairable? Replacing the U1100 939pin chip is out of my ability. Then of course the source of...

• Re: APPLE A1425 820-3462-A Schematic

You are right, I was looking on the wrong spot.
I think the new battery is not recognised. Since I do have 12,6V on PPBUS_G3H. So charging circuit looks OK and the computer is working!
I'm wondering if there is way to check it is indeed a bad battery or bms? How can I check that? I do have 12V at battery cell level. On Q7055 aswell Gate and Source have 12,6V, so current goes through. What keeps the Gate on 12,6V instead of 4V-isch?

• Re: APPLE A1425 820-3462-A Schematic

The boardview looks not 100% correct for my 820-3462-A.
i.e. R7050 show 4pin while the schematics show 2pin. Also UD200 is not on the board.
My MBP A1425 works OK from charger but doesn't recognise the battery after installing new battery. Not sure if it the battery itself or the charging circuit? With charger PPBUS_G3H is 12,57V, w/o charger 0V.

• MSI CR62 starting, but black screen

This 15" laptop from 2015, has power light when the powerbutton is pushed, after 1min the fan begin to turn and I can feel the cpu is warming up at the heatpipe, almost unpleasant warm to hold, after 4min.
But the screen is black, no backlight.
All peripherals are disconnected, no liquid damage, bios reset.
Voltages measured: 3,1 5,4 cpu1,7 ram 1,0 and 1,3 and 3,3 at p8 of bios.
Bios reprogrammed but no difference.
There is not much info about these laptops, anyone more idea's what to check?

• DELL XPS15 2019 P56F SPK connector burnt!

Never saw this before, the speaker connector on the mainboard is half melted down! User says he was using a hdmi monitor when the laptop broke down. Power adapter led is the only live I see currently, 19,5V at the mainboard connector but nothing else. No voltages at the coils.
What could possible cause that burnt connector?
Idea's what to check?...

• Re: A1278 820-3115-B PCB layers damaged?

I'm not sure if this board is worth it, I have no experience with that kind of repair. You can find lots of video of board repairs, but layers repairs video's are not so common.
Do you know of an example repair like that?

• A1278 820-3115-B PCB layers damaged?

I've been working for while on this Macbook Pro LB.
On the bare board with power adapter plugged in, no green light. So far I noticed that there is no PPBUS_G3H. I removed F7040 and I measure 2,1Ohm on pin2 there. So I conclude there is a short. I went to voltage injection on that pin2: 2,2V is drawing 1,1A. I found the board is warming at C7553, c7555 and C7556, so I removed those, but still the board is drying the alcohol at that spot. There are no more components there!
Can it be that the trace in the layers of the PCB are damaged? It is an board with older water damage that...
