Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
Hello everyone! This is my first post so im sorry if there is something wrong with it
I have a Samsung le37a659p1f TV, and it will not turn on. Red light blinks and every 30s or so, i hear a sound from tv. It sounds like some melody. I dont have an original remote controler for this TV. I have some universal controler that i got from my cable tv provider, and they say is should work with this TV.
Mainboard is bn40-00120A. Should i also try to flash eeprom? Or just replace mb?
Now im not sure is that bn40-00120a tuner model or mainboard? Or maybe this is: bn94-01741h?Last edited by Boles; 08-17-2014, 10:45 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
all Samsung part numbers will start with BN94-
the number you see printed on the pcb, is the pcb type. with no firmware installed , also there will be hardware difference on a pcb with the same number printed on it
always look at the part number printed on a sticker,
ignore the BN40- number on the tuner
it will start with BN94-Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
Thanks....
I do really like this series of Samsung and it is 1080P. However I already have a Pionner 27" KDL which I love so I am going to find a home for this one I think.Leave a comment:

Glad you fixed it! Now are you going to keep it or sell it? Is it 1080p?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
I went with the correct 37" board rather than risking any delaying the repair by trying a 32" one.
There are so many boards for this set that have the exact same model number but are completely different. E.g more HDMI's on some than others, Extra connections and either a ribbon type LVDS connection and/or wired type.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
Well done! - just for future viewers was the replacement exactly the same board number and was it advertised to fit 37inch ,32 inch or both.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
Well you will be pleased to hear I can finally put an end to this thread.
The company that I ordered a replacement power supply from had the required motherboard in stock. Since I didn't get sent the correct power supply they were happy for me to send it back and exchange it for the motherboard.
Just fitted the new motherboard now and it fired up like a charm.
So glad to have this done and dusted.
Thanks for all of the input.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
My reservation would be that the eeprom or the firmware chip may be set up to look for a 32 inch screen and it will bottle when it cant find it. Perhaps you can check again in the manual to see if its mentioned. Cant check myself as the link is no longer valid.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
Right I still need to get this up and running.
I have seen another motherboard on eBay but its for the 32 inch version of the set. All the connection look to be right. The model number is BN41-00974B do we think its worth a try?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
Just read your response on the other thread I also found it funny. I will get back on this tv tomorrow as I now have my proper camera back I can take some decent pictures.
my fluke 175 will hopefully arrive to play about with too!
Scenic sorry to hear about your health but glad you are still finding time to help people out.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
First of all, the 256KBit EEPROM doesn't store any "operating system". It's solely for the user settings (brightness, contrast, settings/options, channels, ...) which can get corrupted, preventing the TV from starting up (probably doesn't like the brightness (for example) being set to 255 out of 100 and similar mess-ups).
I stand corrected again. Why I thought it was the mainboard I don't know, all the confusion with different T.V parts being discussed I suppose.
Looking up BN44-00199A it's only the power supply not the power supply/inverter. Why do you say it's both? I know on later models Samsung incorporate the SMPS and inverter but on this model the inverter is separate isn't it? part no. VIT71037.50.
Bear in mind I am always learning (self taught) and I am genuinely interested as to why you say it's both.
All that out the way. What's your thinking on this now? after you weed out TechAMPs posts do you still reckon Jasgriffs problem is a corrupted EEPROM?
Hope your back issues get better soon!Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
The Firmware ("OS") of the TV is stored in a 16MBit or so Flash-EEPROM, which can be seen in the attached pic (with the bright yellow sticker on it). Resetting/erasing that would be equal to cracking the board in half in terms of fixing it.
although it has been done on the LE40A557 (mainboard BN44-00199A) and it is located at IC5107.
@ Jasgriff: Look for 8leg IC's on the backside of the board, close to the CI card slot (the one that looks like Cardbus/PCMCIA on older laptops) that says either "24C256" (or some variation like AT24C256B) OR "2EB 1" in the 2nd line.
If the first line starts with "ATMLxxxx", that just tells you it's made by Atmel and a cryptic datecode. Doesn't help identifying the IC at all.
I've been "out of service" for a week or so because of a lumbar disk herniation. REALLY sucked. Couldn't stand, let alone walk. That combined with a cold makes for a REALLY fucked up week of not being able to move and every cough feeling like someone's punching your back/spine with needles..
I'll try to read through this thread again from the ground up, trying to ignore all the damn off-topic posts of different boards.
If the attached pic (BN41-00974B mainboard) is the one Jasgriff has, I'd need a pic of the back of the board, preferably labelled which of the 8pin IC's is which somehow.
The slot in the top right is the CI card slot I was talking about earlier.Last edited by Scenic; 03-12-2012, 04:39 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
Yeah the same board but it looks like I can use a 32" 40" board it doesnt just have to be a 37" tv that it comes from.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
I know I had the same when buying a refurbished power supply for this tv which was actually in worse condition than the one that was already in it!
Looking at that service Manual I can get away with using the mainboard of other sizes?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
Getting a hold of another can be easy and pricey! Particularly on Fleabay. The temptation is to go for the cheapest price you can get. Problem being, that a lot of the geezers selling them are just pulling them straight out of damaged screen T.Vs with no testing whatsoever. I just had cracker of an experience with this the other week. I bought a power supply for a Bush LCD that he claimed was 'tested fully working'. On receiving it you could clearly see it had, had extensive repair attempts made on it (seriously bad soldering, trace repair attempts all over the place) so I stuck it in and crossed my fingers! and nothing, zilch, nada. The bridge rectifier tested good but there was nothing at the main filter cap. Lesson learned, AGAIN, lol. Back in the post it went, I wasn't interested in trying to repair it and the T.V can just sit in the corner till I can be bothered with it again (it's quite old). You live and learn...Leave a comment:

by Phil289Hi
I aquired a Samsung UE46EH5000 from a lady that said it was turning on and off so she just purchased a new one.
On plugging into the mains and turning on i get a solid red light.
On using the on/off button or remote i just get a flashing red light in a pattern of flash/flash gap flash/flash gap flash/flash etc.
Opened it up and disconnected the main board from the power board by removing the connecting ribbon cable with the hope of getting either a 'no backlight' or a 'working backlight' but got neither,i just got a blinking backlight that turned on and off randomly... -
by esqmoooHello everyone.
This is my development machine. I've been using it since two years and half without any problem except sometimes it wouldn't wake up from sleep.
Lately the issue became more frequent and powering it up would take few seconds to show the POST screen.
Then the computer refuses to power on at all. Now only the caps lock button flashes 7 times then stops. The charging light is always on whenever a power source is connected (battery or charger).
I tried long pressing on the power button, after several seconds it would go off then when the button is released... -
by JackchingI know for sure it has a bad cap and one cold solder joint. Just wondering before i order the Caps if anyone has any experience with this model? Just making sure there isnt a common component that goes bad besides the caps....
