How much would you offer for Sceptre X42GV-KOMODO??

There is no picture, as in a pitch black screen (no
faint glow at all), but the sound works fine.

What would be a good price for this one?

Perhaps the lamp inverters are bad?

    Thanks in advance.....

Well, it's only 720p 42". Could be inverters, could be PSU. Screen could be cracked and you might not know it. Offer only what you are prepared to lose. It might be easy to fix. It might be a CCFL which could be expensive.

      I would't go over 60$
      Guns don't solve problems. I'll take 12

That is what I usually do.

I'll offer him $15 or so.

Eventually, people come to realize not too many repair people
are willing to gamble too much....

I don't know where you people are, but around here people think their broken TVs are worth their weight in gold. An example: a guy posted a Samsung HPT5054 with no video. I fixed one of these before, it had a blown sustain board and a shorted buffer, so it cost a mint (in my world at least!) to repair. I paid $80 for the first one, and I probably overpaid at that price.

He wants $200 (or trade for a Wii system! ). I asked him if he would be flexible on the price, and he responded that he could just sell the parts on eBay and make $140 with the screen alone. I sent a long response about how much it costs to get these fixed, the low costs of a brand new TV, and good luck selling the boards on ebay because I can't unload working boards for the cost of shipping, and I would give him $80. Response...silence. It's still up for sale!

There are people like that in my town too, but only the ones
with newly broken tvs, who only last year spent $xxxx dollars.
Just let them hold on to them for a while, then they'll get
              tired of an oversized paperweight!

You have to explain the very real risk that you won't be
able to repair it, or it will cost you more than a new tv to do it.
And if they wanna Ebay it, let them.....if they've done any real
Ebaying, they'll know what a pain in the ass it is to photograph, post,
package, drive to and wait in line at the post office, accept returns,
get negative feedback, pay Ebay and Paypal fees.....etc. etc.....

too many idiots on ebay to mess with selling there.only folks i will sell parts to know what they are doing.or i use them myself.so yes let em waste their time selling on ebay.
with pay not your pal there is no such thing as as is.
let it bite em in the ass!

I have repaired a few sceptres and It will have one cap on the main board that will need to be replaced. (You can`t miss it) (smaller tvs ) not 42

As far as inverters I have not replaced any or had any fail.

Not sure who makes the panel for the larger sets. The inverter board should be easy to find.

Sceptre is a bit rare and parts should do well on ebay.

You can program a generic remote for these too. (ge)

The one I have is a really nice unit (23") with a great picture (hd)
