That hot plate gets really hot. I'm afraid it will damage the led, and I would have to remove the strips from the TV. I feel more comfortable using a good soldering iron.😐...

That with a station was the cheapest I could find. The others with a station were $115.00 to $170.00🤑😱...

Wellsir ... I failed completely ... I just could not get those little led soldered in properly. I have a piece of crap soldering iron. The solder just would not stick and I was burning up the led. To make matters worst the dang iron quit on me.🤬 Unfortunately I have to put this project on the back burner until after the holidays ... I have guest coming and I need to move the tv out of the guest room where I am working. Can any of you suggest a good soldering iron?🤔

Thanks for that link ... I got the leds replace, soldering was no easy task with my shaky hand. So I just replaced the bad ones. I'll be ready to reassemble it after the test.

Wellsir ... I'm making progress. I got an electric cord from an vacuum that no longer works and hooked up the heat plate to it. I was a bit worried about powering it up so I took it outside to test it. It gets plenty hot went up to 450 degrees according to my heat gun. I screwed up with the first two leds ... I damage them, but I was able to figure out how to use it and I removed 18 leds. I tested them and they are all good. I was able to tell which is the positive side of the led and which is the negative. Tomorrow I plan to solder the working leds into the strips. With two strips hook...

Wellsir ... seeing how I have $51 invested in the strips that I can't return and $10 in the heat plate, I will try using them, I guess I should replace all the leds in the strips with the bad ones. I will see how that goes.

69 ... thanks for that link I would have never have figure it out. I don't see anything about voltage ... just amp <5 that's it. I'm hoping they sent the right voltage since it was coming to the states.
Eazy ... I could not find the correct leds so I got the strip that had the same part number as the strip in the tv.

Re: Sceptre 48" TV backlight LED`s
Sceptre 48" E485BV-FMQR8BK AV93BA S/N E23B485CB0239
Here are some photos of the strips. The part number from the old strips and the numbers that was on the replacement in the following photo.
Eazy why was it easy to remove the bad leds with a heat gun but these new ones won't ... I don't understand that. So I need to keep at it with the solder iron until it comes loose?
Thanks for the link ... so you think this tool will do the job ... I will check it out....

Sceptre 48" TV backlight LED`s
Trying to fix a backlight problem with a Sceptre 48" TV.
I found replacement strips with the same part number as the strips in the Sceptre, but the new backlight strips have 5 leds per strip and the ones in the tv has 6.
So I decided to replace the leds instead. I found 3 bad ones. I had no problem removing the bad ones with a heat gun, they came right out. However the leds on the replacement strip would not come out with heat. I use my solder iron as well, they will not come off.
Anyone know how I can remove those leds without damaging them?Last edited by SMDFlea; 11-11-2023, 04:26 PM.
