I left it on for about 1.5 hours then turned it off and on again, no picture again. Having scoured the internet I found a site that offered a repair kit for for such problems which showed the capacitor numbers. I changed C975 -100uF ( near T-Con connector ) the TV seems to be working as it should :-).
The capacitors listed on the site are.
    C553 - 100uF
    C901 - 100uF
    C915 - 100uF
    C954 - 470uF
    C970 - 100uF
    C975 - 100uF
I hope this helps other people with the same problems
Thank you sooo much this helped me repair one I have

Well, i've fixed the power board that the customer messed up by cutting a small staple and soldered it to a trace connecting to the positive side of that capacitor. Seems to be working just fine, not the best looking thing but hey it works.

I watched some of those videos but not sure if the kit will be worth the time and money. It's not mine anyways, since the guy broke it, i'm leaving it up to him to find a board. Do you know where to find those kits? Radio shack is the best thing i've got around here and it's 30 minutes away.

Well I attempted repairing the missing solder pad today with a circuit writer pen but it didn't help any. I'm pretty sure my problem is from the power supply. The darn things are hard to find too.

Found something interesting. I noticed when powering up the tv the video looked fine for just a second and then it cuts out to no signal for about 10 seconds and comes back on distorted. I started checking some of the pins going to the main board and one stood out, it's the VBR-B. There's a VBR-A that reads 3.3V but VBR-B was only reading 2.7v. I jammed my probe into the VBR-B and powered it on from a cold shut down. When the tv first powers on and the display is good, I get 3.3 volts on the VBR-b pin and then it zeroes out while the no signal was displayed and then when the distorted picture comes back on the voltage is only 2.7V

Not necessarily... most TVs will reprogram the EEPROM with default factory settings if a blank one is replaced.

I think this is actually a 42LC7D. He brought it to me with the back off so I can't confirm the actual model.

Also need to mention that even though the picture is distorted, when I press the menu, it comes up looking great. It kind of makes me feel like it's in the main board as the inputs are what's distorted. Also I think if it were the tcon even the menu would look bad.

    Re: LG 42LC46 problem

I think I have the same set. My scenario is the guy that brought it to me picked it up as a freebie and it wouldn't power on. Well he decided to take the back off and go exploring, he found some bulged caps on the PS so he tried replacing them. He got it to power on but it would shut off after 10 minutes. He brought it in to me and I observed that he had reversed polarity on all 8 of the caps he had replaced not to mention a very shoddy soldering job. I removed and replaced all the caps he replaced. One of the caps he removed in a rough fashion and ripped the solder pad off of the pcb. I tried to make the solder stick but it doesn't look so well. Anyways, the tv now powers on and stays on but the picture is horrible. I have posted pics to try and show the quality. I'm at a loss of if he damaged the PS somewhere causing this or maybe it's the main board or tcon. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi I need help with a Samsung un43nu7100 BN94-13191C/BN41-02635A with boot loop problem even with tcon jumper.
I've already try tape method and same happen, if I disconnect both flex from mainboard to panel tv boots normal even I hear Samsung sound.
When I solder jumper to make t-con work with or without panel or panel cables connected it still reboot or power cycling.
What I noticed is that there's no voltage in VHG, HAVDD, PANEL_3.3V, AVDD_17V or 12v near dc-dc chip.
I check capacitors and diodes and didn't find any short IN MAINBOARD.
    Measured all power supply...

Problem with LG Plasma 60PM6700 - Random power downs
    by theone111
I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
    1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
    2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
    3. Problem: TV shuts down

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
    by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
    by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

    i have a problem with thinkpad X1 carbon gen 2 "LMQ-1MB 12298-2 48.4LY26.021"
The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double...
