    Hitachi P50H4011 Plasma no picture

Got a 50 inch hitachi plasma p50h4011 with no picture but sound works.
On inspection two swollen caps on power supply and a blown chip 3294f on the lower sdr buffer pwb. When i dissconnect the lower sdr pwb I get the top half of the picture back. I will replace the caps on the power supply and the buffer chip on the sdr-d pwb but i am wondering if there is a chance that the pwb (y-sus i think) that the sdr pwb connects to could be damaged as well?

Does the TV power up with the suspect buffer removed?

Replace the caps and put in a new buffer. Then enjoy your new TV.

(The buffers are both common, if the Y-sus is faulty, both buffers will usually blow...)

Replaced the caps on the lvps and replaced the lower buffer pwb and all is well. too bad that there is a half inch black line at the bottom of the screen must be the panel itself. still good for watching movies though. Thanks for all your advice great forum!!!

if you re-connect the lower pwb a couple of times - picture will be correct. These connectors take some fanaggling to get correct.

              Hi folks,
I got this Hitachi P50H4011 plasma Tv w/ exactly the same problem as in this thread.
My question is, if one of the sdr board got busted, does the other sdr board need to replaced too ? How about the Y-sus board ? will it perform as good as before the busting of sdr bd.. Can it be affected too?

Any comments and replies are really appreciated.

Thank you so much in advance guys.

Re: Hitachi P50H4011 Plasma no picture

I fixed two of these and the first one needed only the lower scan buffer and the second one only needed the upper. Both sets needed the same two caps replaced on the power supply board. The y sus boards are pretty tough in these things.

Had the same problem, ordered the lower buffer board from Ebay. It was saying OEM original board but when received it was written '' Made in China'' instead of made in Phils... Can't hide that it was'nt working for me. I have black horizontal lines thorough the image on the bottom part. Could it be something i missed ? How can i know if it's y sus or the buffer board? adjustment ? I will continue to browse for this but in the meantime any good advice is welcome.

Re: Hitachi P50H4011 Plasma no picture

sounds like its associated with a missing data feed to thepanel because of a misaligned ribbon cable connecting to the buffer board. Check that out first and make sure that both are seated perfectly into the connector before Closing the cable connector
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Did you make sure to seat the buffer ribbon cables properly? These are a PITA to do you need to make sure they click 2 time for a solid connection.

I had this problem on the upper working buffer on my Tachi as soon as I reseated the cables properly the lines were gone..

Not sure if you fixed those horizontal lines yet or not, but I'm not kidding when I say it took me 5 or 6 tries to get those ribbon cables seated properly. I needed a lot of light and a magnifier lens for these old eyes. You will see tiny plastic tabs on the ribbon cable itself. They have to be inserted perfectly straight into the slots inside the connector.

Re: Hitachi P50H4011 Plasma No Picture / No Sound.
Missing Va & Vs voltages,,, but if I remove the upper & lower buffer boards, voltages return!
Both buffer boards are "good", positive.
If I remove the supply power cable to the YSUS (8 wire) still no Va or Vs.
Is it possible the YSUS board is bad?
                                Any help is appreciated...
                                Thanks Everyone.

Rex, did you ever figure your problem out? I have a different model Hitachi (P50S601) but a similar issue. Only a low 3.8V Va and Vs voltages from the PSU and both of my SDR buffer boards test good. Blue light stays lit (no flashing). Tried a different PSU but no change. Thinking about trying a new Y-SUS next but wanted to see if you had any luck. I have sound but no picture but my Va and Vs don't return if I remove both buffer boards.

when inserting the ribbon into the connector, make sure the tab on the ribbon is ahead of the white block on the connector and the side of cable is beside the white block, on both sides. you will usually need a magnifier to to see it but when done right you should not get any thin lines
