I have a Sony KDL XBR6 that has lines in 6" wide sections. I tried heating up the plastic stripes on the panel, improved a little. Attached are some pictures of what it looks like now. When it first powers up the whole left side is all lines and then you can slowly see them fad away to what the pictures are. The menu does look to be clear. The built in sample photos that are loaded on the tv look like the screen in the picture. Some are clear and some show the lines. All inputs do the same thing. Twisting or moving screen around does not change (like some other post suggested) Do you think this is a T-con board or the main board issue or both? Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
If the OSD (i.e. menus) is clear it is almost certainly the main board; the main board is the only part that can distinguish between source video and OSD graphics, the panel and T-con just display what the main board tells them to. However, the symptoms look a lot like a bad panel. Can you try getting up a menu that covers most of the screen; do the glitches affect the menus? Please do not PM me with questions! Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
You can see the lines thru the menu more so when it is white, colored lettering doesn't seem to show the lines as bad, you have to look close to see them. So it sounds like the panel is bad? Is there a way to check the main board?Comment

Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
Try my suggestion of getting a menu which covers the whole screen (or a good amount) to come up. It doesn't look like a panel problem. Looks like maybe a damaged RAM chip. (Not easy to repair, but the main board can be replaced.)Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

It could still be the T-con, but a bad panel might be able to cause the same symptoms. Did you see if a menu had the same problem? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
The menu looks be clear, I don't have anything on the menu that fills a lot of the screen. But what I can see seems to be clear. I had the tv on and I took off one ribbon at a time off the T-con board, there are four ribbons that go to the panel, when I take the outside ones off the screen turns white about 1/4 of the way in on each side and don't see the square pattern. Then I took off one of the inside ribbons and half the panel was white without square looking pattern. So I am thinking it might be the T-con board.Comment

Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
It's been about a month now and I can not find a T-con board anywhere for this set. I have tried sending the board out to get repaired and they can't even get parts to repair it. Does anyone know if there is any other boards that would work in here? Or of any place that sells boards? I even called Sony and they can't get the part. What's a Fella supposed to do?Comment

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.
We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.
Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
Board number is 404652ASNC6LV4.5, there is a label on it which has 2383H. I have tried Ebay many times and have not found one. I have sent it to ModusLink to see if they could repair it, and they told me they could not get parts to fix it. I have tried Craigslist in just about all the major cities and found nothing. I have looked all over the web with no luck.
I even tried Sony authorized dealers and they say they can't even get parts. I am stuck with a nice big peace of junk right now. Thanks for replying.Comment

by ggil44Hi, I have a Sony XBR-65X750D that has horizontal lines at the bottom 6 inches of the screen. These lines appear to be every other line because the picture is still quite visible behind those lines. The lines appear all the time with a few other lines above and below the 6 inch level blinking on and off at about 2 second intervals. I'm not sure if this is a panel issue or power supply/main board problem. I did replace the T-Con board without any change in the problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

by ChrissygizmoHello again everyone,
This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…
I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried... -
by noisykid5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

by thstuffThis "free from a friend who was going to recycle it" SONY BRAVIA XBR-55A8H arrived with the bottom center RED LED repeating a four flash pattern. It was treated with kid gloves and was reported to have "just gone dead" and the OLED panel has no dents in the metal frame or cracks.
Thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1091829 helped in proceeding as follows:
1) Unplugged, then plugged set in while holding the remote VOL- and Power to factory reset.
2) Waited 30 seconds, then pressed remote Power button and "Select language"...01-30-2023, 05:01 PM - Loading...
