Re: Before I toss these on the basis of bad panels...
Craig, I guess I shouldn't use the term re-solder. All I did was heat them up again so they would reseat themselves, like a bad solder joint. Sorry not the greatest at explaining things.

Re: Before I toss these on the basis of bad panels...
Craig, I have been playing with some of these Toshiba's. What I have been finding is the tab to screen bonding is not making a good connection sometimes. I have taken like a wide paint scraper, set it on the tab and put it up against the LCD screen so it doesn't get to hot, take hot air solder gun and run it over a few times, hold down on the scraper while it cools. Sometimes it's the small IC in the middle of the tab that has to be resolder. I had some that stayed working and some lasted a couple of months. Just a thought if...

Re: Vizio VW42L Black Picture Great Sound - Side Buttons don't Work except Power and
Most likely it's the main board. The voltage regulators go bad sometimes. If you have a meter you can check them out. I think U33 is normally the bad guy. If I remember right it should have 5.19v in and 3.3v out.

Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
Board number is 404652ASNC6LV4.5, there is a label on it which has 2383H. I have tried Ebay many times and have not found one. I have sent it to ModusLink to see if they could repair it, and they told me they could not get parts to fix it. I have tried Craigslist in just about all the major cities and found nothing. I have looked all over the web with no luck.
I even tried Sony authorized dealers and they say they can't even get parts. I am stuck with a nice big peace of junk right now. Thanks for replying.

Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
It's been about a month now and I can not find a T-con board anywhere for this set. I have tried sending the board out to get repaired and they can't even get parts to repair it. Does anyone know if there is any other boards that would work in here? Or of any place that sells boards? I even called Sony and they can't get the part. What's a Fella supposed to do?

Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
The menu looks be clear, I don't have anything on the menu that fills a lot of the screen. But what I can see seems to be clear. I had the tv on and I took off one ribbon at a time off the T-con board, there are four ribbons that go to the panel, when I take the outside ones off the screen turns white about 1/4 of the way in on each side and don't see the square pattern. Then I took off one of the inside ribbons and half the panel was white without square looking pattern. So I am thinking it might be the T-con board.

Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
Well, I got the new board today and installed it. Same problem as before. All lines on left side and after a few minutes it looks just like the pictures in original
post. Could it be T-con board or is the panel itself bad?

Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
Thanks, I will check that out and let you know. I found a new board on ebay that wasn't to bad in price. Maybe order that tomorrow and see what happens. If it doesn't work I can always resell board. Thanks again for your help.

Re: Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
You can see the lines thru the menu more so when it is white, colored lettering doesn't seem to show the lines as bad, you have to look close to see them. So it sounds like the panel is bad? Is there a way to check the main board?

Sony KDL XBR6, rows of lines
I have a Sony KDL XBR6 that has lines in 6" wide sections. I tried heating up the plastic stripes on the panel, improved a little. Attached are some pictures of what it looks like now. When it first powers up the whole left side is all lines and then you can slowly see them fad away to what the pictures are. The menu does look to be clear. The built in sample photos that are loaded on the tv look like the screen in the picture. Some are clear and some show the lines. All inputs do the same thing. Twisting or moving screen around does not change (like some other post suggested) Do you think...

Re: sony KDL-32s3000 vert lines colored
I would check the ribbons that connect to the LCD panel itself. Ran in to a couple of these where there was not a good connection. Used a hot air resolder station and went over the ribbons a few times and it corrected the problem. When I did this I laid a small peace a metal on the screen so I didn't damage the screen.

Re: Sony Bravia LCD Vertical Lines
Had a problem like that on Toshiba, took it apart down to the LCD panel it self, there some small ribbons that go from the board to the panel. I took a hot air resoldering unit and went over the connections on the panel and it fixed the problem. I covered the panel with a small peace of metal so it wouldn't damage the screen it self. Might give that a try.

Re: Vizio vw37l, no back light
Installed different inverter board that bought on Ebay. Plugged in and now lights up. The Blue LED is not supposed to stay lite. Once the back light is on the Blue LED will go out. If anyone would like to know any voltage readings or anything else let me know before I close it up.

Vizio vw37l, no back light
Have VW37L that I can not get the back light to come on. I just installed a new main board. Before I started nothing would work. All I had was a Amber light and after reading a lot of threads on this site and others they all said the main board. When put the new board in the logo changes from Amber to White but the back light does not come on. When you look at the inverter board there is a blue LED which stays lite. Any suggestion on what to check? The fuse is good, I am getting 24volts there.Last edited by bmadbob; 11-30-2011, 01:03 PM.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi, new to this site. I see a lot of good info here. I like to dabble in electronics for a past time. Had some classes many years ago. Haven't worked a lot with the newer components. So I need lots of help. This form looks like a great place to get started again.
