    Insignia Plasma burnt chip y-buffer

Hi. I just bought an insignia 42 inch plasma model# NS-P42Q-10A. It has no picture but sound ok.(I cannot afford to buy a working one) The first time I turned it on I saw a few green and red sparckles all over the screen. I hear some clicking noises. The red light beside the power switch blinks about 5 times then tv shuts off. When I opened it up I found a burnt chip on the Y-buffer pn LJ41-06109A (glowing pinhole tiny bit of smoke). With Y-buffer unplugged the tv stays on. I am trying to figure out how to test the Y-main pn LJ41-05779A before installing the new Y-buffer I ordered. What are the chances my Y-main is OK? I am worried about it blowing my new Y-buffer. I have read about unplugging the upper and lower buffers in sequence to see if I get a half screen but this tv does not seem to be setup like this. There are no upper and lower boards. Just the one long Y-buffer. A lot of what i've read doesnt seem to apply to this tv. All the output voltages from the power supply seem ok. I cannot find any bulged caps or blown fuses. After being on for about 5 minutes heatsinks on power supply slightly warm,Y-main heatsinks cool. Sorry about my longwinded question I just wanted to be as specific as possible in case i'm missing something. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Insignia Plasma burnt chip y-buffer

Usually on this panel the Y-main and buffers both go at the same time and must be replaced as a pair. This is not always the case but if I were you I would check the FETs and transistors on the Y-main for shorts before you put the new buffer in.

First post -Intel NUC 10i5 -BXNUC10i5FNH not powering on -IC burnt- request for IC details/datasheet
      by electomech-fixer
      Hi all,
I came across this very active forum with knowledgeable folks on electronic circuits and components, while google searching for the details of my burnt IC marked 7603 in Intel NUC board. I joined this forum today and this is my first post here.
I recently got an Intel NUC 10i5 and had installed Linux Mint and was using it for about a month when it died suddenly and did not power up after that.(Power Adaptor is ok). When I opened the NUC , there was a burnt IC marked 7603 (and ILCB in second line). I am unable to find the details/datasheet of this IC. I will be grateful if...

Zotac GTX 260 burnt component - can anyone identify?
      by dicky96
      Hi guys
This Zotac GTX 260 had a high side MOFET on one Vcore VRM phase short circuit Drain to Gate (Not short Drain to Source)

This has burnt out the drive IC L3E (ADP3110A) and also an SOT-23 device very close to the driver IC. According to the PCB markings 'Dxxx' this is likely to be a diode.

Basically the VRM has 4 phases, two powered from one 6 way connector and two powered from the other 6 way

I would assume each pair of phases are basically identical, the burnt out phase has SOT-23 devices WW1 plus the burnt one.

      The good phase...

      Precision 5550 LA-J191P No Power, Burnt ISL9538
      by swimllamaswim
I picked up this Precision 5550 to fix up recently, and found that the ISL9538 chip was burnt on pin 14 (CSIN). The two left side Type C ports negotiate at 20v, and the right side one only negotiates at 5v. I also found the EMI protection diode, DT35, was burnt on that side. I pulled the ISL9538 off, checked for any other obvious shorts, repaired the pad, and put a new one on. Now, I still do not get power, and there is a rapid clicking sound from somewhere on the board that I can't pinpoint.

Here are the voltages measured at that chip:

To note, DCIN at Pin 17 is low,...

Apple MacBook Pro A2338 820-02773-A AON Rail burnt
      by mferna14
Hi Dear Friend., I am working on a Apple MacBook Pro A2338 820-02773-A. The history was that the AON Rail on the Trackpad connector JT400 was burnt. After I removed the burnt connector, I tested with the meter & no shorts. Connected the USB C power & all booted fine, no problems at all. I soldered a New TP connector put in the old trackpad with a brand new Flex cable. The laptop beeped in the start but no display. I removed the connector & the display was fine again. USED a known good Trackpad & a Flex cable, even with this still the same problem. I checked the connector whether...

Insignia NS-LCD019-09 issue: Power light turns blue for 3 seconds, the flashes red before going solid read again
      by cajoeg
Hello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.

The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV...
