Re: Hi guys question on buffer board
Most of the time on Samsung plasma TVs a bad buffer will take out the Y-main board. Sometimes it does not happen but generally it does. When you unplug the upper board on a Samsung you will not get a picture but the screen should light up and just show a black screen on the lower half. If it does not light up then the Y-main is toast. It is very likely that plugging a good upper buffer in to the Y-main will just fry the board immediately. In most cases you will need to repair the Y-main and replace both buffers. Even if the lower buffer tests...

Re: Long backorder on Panny plasma parts - anyone else?
TV manufacturers do not make an endless supply of parts for newer TVs and since the plasma panels are made as a unit (Panel, SC Board, SS Board, and Buffers) they rarely make "extra parts". While they will generally keep enough parts on hand to cover repairs during the manufacturer warranty period once that is passed they will not keep building new parts. Most boards the repair shops sell and receive after warranty are refurbished from the company or are harvested parts sold by other companies. Backorders of 8 weeks...

Re: Samsung Mainboard swap????
The T-Con does need to match the panel. Have you tried using the original T-Con that was in your TV? If you have the T-Con from a 52" panel in your TV then chances are it is not the same as the T-Con from a 40" and will not work. Sometimes the T-Con is interchangeable and sometimes it is not.
Also, you still need to provide your version number from the sticker on your TV. It is located on the small sticker on the right side of the TV itself or the back panel. It is usually blue. This will help determine if this board is compatible...Last edited by rayrod81; 02-20-2013, 10:23 AM.

Re: LG42PC1D power board swap
It could well be the problem. Most common caps that go bad in my experience are low capacitance-high voltage (like your 68uF 450V) or high capacitance-low voltage (1000uF-3300uF 10V-25V). The low value caps usually dry out and do not bulge. I have seen this many times on Y-sus boards and power supplies.

Re: Suspect Panasonic "D" Board - TH-46PZ80B
This type of symptom is very common on these Panasonic sets. It is usually one of the connectors that go to the D-board. Lightly tapping the connections on the D-board should reveal the loose connector. Once you find it just tape it down with electrical tape and it should be fine. I have fixed a handful of Panasonics with similar issues.

Re: Vizio P42HD (Plasma) 2 Vertical Lines
This is a common problem with this panel. The cause is a bad logic board. It is situated behind the main board. It is usually bad solder joints on the main processor and the resistor packs and buffer chips along the bottom of the board. The processor is BGA and will need to be reflowed. You can purchase a new logic board but they are fairly expensive ($80-$100) and the 6871qch038C is prone to this problem. The 6871qch060q is an updated version but it is almost impossible to find new. Replacing either of these with a used board will cause...

Re: Vizio vp422hdtv10a no audio,no video.
The MUR460g is the large diode in that circuit. It has a different part number but is equivalent to the MUR460g. It is a 600V 4A ultrafast rectifier. The MR4030 might have a short between ground and the source. I think they are pins 3(gnd) and 5(source) or 3 and 9. Look up the data sheet for MR4030 and it will show you the circuit diagram.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ700Uv Momentary Sound and Picture then 7 blinks. Is it possible
I am not entirely sure as the Sevice bulletin I have only mentions the US Models. I would lean toward yes due to the fact that the circuits are practically the same on the SC and driver boards but I can't guarantee that. Either way this is one TV that I do not hesitate to pick up because the boards themselves are worth so much....

Re: Vizio vp422hdtv10a no audio,no video.
If the power supply is blinking then the problem is isolated to that board. I have fixed a couple of these and it was a regulator on the power supply. The part number is MR4030. Fuse may be blown and two diodes are likely shorted. The diodes were a UF4007 and a MUR460G.
Check for a bad fuse and a short in the peripheral circuit of the MR4030.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ700Uv Momentary Sound and Picture then 7 blinks. Is it possible
According to troubleshooting guide there is a slight possibility the D board or power supply could be at fault.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ700Uv Momentary Sound and Picture then 7 blinks. Is it possible
I have seen a few of these that when first powered on will briefly flash as the screen was primed and shutdown into 7 blinks. So far all 4 have been the bad panel. The 2 I have seen with a bad SC Board did not prime the screen and just immediately began blinking at power on.
I would have a hard time believing the TV is showing a picture and shutting down into 7 blinks. Either he is blowing smoke or miscounting the blinks.Last edited by rayrod81; 01-15-2013, 10:42 PM.

Re: 8 blinks in power supply:Magnavox 42mf237s/37
The power supply should have a diagnostic legend printed on it which will tell you which circuit on the board is faulty. I can't quite see it in pictures of the power supply. It is directly beneath or next to the board with the blinking LED. From other pictures I have seen it looks as though it may be a thermal fault.

Yes that is correct, 7 blinks on this model is very possibly a shorted panel. It is a 50/50 proposition.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ77U SC board repair 7 blinks
The part number is B1DFKM000002 or 5N2307. Here is thread from AVS Forum with some info for you. http://www.avsforum.com/t/1001318/master-thread-for-panasonic-plasma-not-turning-on/510#post_17876879Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ77U SC board re...17876879

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ77U SC board repair 7 blinks
The common failure on this board is one or more of the FETs in one of the two long rows of FETs. I will have to look up the part number. Keep in mind that after you do the repair there is a firmware upgrade that needs to be applied to keep this problem from recurring.

Re: First plasma, LG 42PC5D. Sound but no picture. Help me make sense of this.
If the logic board has been worked on then that could be the fault. The oscillator is what produces the signal to turn on the panel drivers. If that is not present then you would get the no picture fault. It should output a 100MHz sine wave. If that is not present then that is your problem.
Edit: It looks as though that might be the Main Board but it is hard to tell with out seeing the whole board. Either way I would check the oscillator on the logic board.Last edited by rayrod81; 12-12-2012, 06:50 PM.

Re: Philips 42FD9954/17s dead
The ICs are only going to be available on ebay. Most likely they will be coming from china and take a couple of weeks to get here unless they use express shipping. I have ordered from UT Source through ebay a few times and have not received a bad part yet. I will have to take a look at the service manual to see if it identifies the varistor a little better as that code is not bringing anything up on searches.

Re: Philips 42FD9954/17s dead
If you pulled the varistors out of circuit to test then they are bad. You should recheck them to make sure.
