    Phillips 37MF231d/37 wierd problem

I have this set in my bedroom and like except... every once in a while when it switches from a HD channel to a sd channel over HDMI, it goes to a green screen. If I unplug it it will come up ok. If I dont unplug it and turn off my fios STB it will show ok including the HDMI bar on screen and the DUI message on the STB. I replaced all the power supply caps with FM series panasonics ant the problem persists happens about every two weeks. I noticed the other night that the power green led will come one sometimes late at night and when I tried to power up, it came up with the green screen. The set doesn't power up all the way when the light comes (no backlite or sound) Last night i waited tor the LED to go out and turned it on and it came up fine.
No obviously bad cap on the main board. Sound like a main board problem? Since it only happens once in a while I havent opened it up for pictures. HDNI is the only source I have in there. Any Ideas?

If you mean that you just changed the channel from an hd channel to an sd channel, and THEN you get green screen (no video), this sounds like typical faulty HDMI behavior.
If I unplug it it will come up ok.
This forces the STB and the TV to repeat the HDMI handshaking process.
I replaced all the power supply caps with FM series panasonics
And the rationale for doing all this work?
the problem persists happens about every two weeks.
Are you saying the problem improved or stayed the same? If you have another video output option like component or even direct video, try them. I'll bet this green screen stuff only happens with the HDMI connection. Post results.
    Is it plugged in?

Thanks longbow! I replaced the caps because when I got it I had 2 bad caps and it wouldn't power on. I have checked all PS voltages with my scope and there good with no ripple.
I will try a component input and check back. The thing I find strange is the power light coming on randomly.

Tried component and it seems to do the same thing. When I switch from HD to SD I get a momentary green flash then it comes up (most of the time).

Check the Philips website and make sure you have the latest firmware. It's an easy upgrade.

Ok, we didn't know about the bulging caps and the won't turn on symptom. That tells you a little about the overall condition of the equipment. Seems that the web is full of complaints about blown up 37MF231 sets, bad caps, etc. At this point, I think you'll need a manual to do some more serious troubleshooting.

Turns out one of the caps I replaced had gone bad! I lived with the problem until it started failing regularly. This time the scope showed a lot of ripple on the 16V line. It seems to be fine now, after I replaced the cap on that line.

you replaced the cap with a panny fm the 1st time?,and it failed again?,did you check the voltage of the old cap and matched voltage or went higher?never known a panny fm to fail that quick!,oh well you live and learn..,i would have put the fm cap as less voltage than the one you replaced, hence the quick failure rate

Also, where did you buy the Panasonic FM cap from? Digikey? Mouser? Ebay?

I had the caps in stock from a digikey purchase some time ago. The cap had a bad lead, it pulled right out!. It was in parallel with another one.

old X58 triple channel board... memtest86 memory speed?
                        by eccerr0r
Anyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...

Reverse engineering of 18650 4-channel tester
                        by spleenharvester
                        Hi friends

I have reverse engineered this tester, schematic is attached and is complete except for capacitor values. These testers annoyingly have no model number but they are the ones you find on the first page of just about any website if you type in "18650 4-channel tester". There is also a 2-channel variant and a newer 8-channel variant. They are very cheap (about £15) and can measure voltage, current, internal resistance and capacity. They have a multicolour display for all these statistics. They also have terminal blocks so that if you want to use a breakout board...

                        LCD TV Green/Pink screen problem
                        by jimjoe123
I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.

Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.

                        Then each time...
