guys, nice tread! im having a simular problem. wile looking at tv heard a pop discovered a fuse in the ysus chanced the fuse and it keeps popping,the tv would not come on just a click. i decided to changed the ysus now ths set is coming on but no picture and no sound the screen will light up a little kinda looks like a backlight is on. please help......

Backlight and YSUS can't be in the same unit.

After reading three post about the LG 42PC3D, Plasma TV, I discover from my last pick up of non working TVs from a local recycling company that I have an LG 42PC3D with the same problem. A one of the two fuses have blown on the Y-sustain board. So the unit power on fine but no picture. Not sure which route I will take. Maybe I will buy the Hybrid Module. Which is a challenges to remove, I might pull out the dremel and cut it out ...lol

I have had the same problem. Some of the L/Gs I replace ipms or boards get the sparkles.

I updated a z board with revision c instead of b and I wonder if that is why. I think if you keep all the boards from same revision that would help.

I have replaced ipms and had the same problem. Also tried setting waveforms and adjusting v with little help.

Recalibrating control board sounds correct and seems like a proprietary move here on L/Gs part.

Not all tvs I have repaired do this, only about half.

From what I have seen the only time I have had to update the control board was when the y-sustain was fixed or replaced. I have yet to see one with red sparkles when the z-sustain was fixed or replaced.

Here are a few suggestions.

1. Don't post in three separate threads. It irritates people and causes them to ignore you.

2. Don't PM people asking for assistance. It irritates them and causes them to ignore you.

3. Links to troubleshooting information on these sets have been posted to several threads. Download that information, study it, follow it, and report the results of your tests. MAYBE then someone will help you. But don't count on it.

i still have that "good" ysus that i rebuilt for the original set. New hybrid on a used board..

hey cats stop and start over form the beginning here..

you had blown fuses on ysus, replaced..

would come on but with blank pic.. so you swapped zsus, same???

go back and recheck all fuses. Im afraid mabye you used a fuse rated for too many amps in the process and smoked something else. OR your "new" ysus is bad.

you could have other isseus too...id start by rechecking all fuses on all boards , then checking all voltages to boards and report back.

Im sorry i have not replied sooner, life is getting in the way and i havent had much freetime lately to tinker with tvs and such.

hay cadillacman thank you very much for taking the time to try helping me, much appreciated. i did find the problem, it was coming from the video board. had som cold solder. did heat up the board and it worked fine. thanks again..

I know this is going back a while but cats, was there a specific place on the video board that you reheated, like the gpu? I have the same model tv with the same problem, sound/no picture. I ordered a new ysus and same result, all caps on the boards and all fuses are good. After I installed the new Ysus I had a quick blink of a picture and then no picture again.

Hi Cadillacman,
When you were testing the fuses, was one shorted to ground? That's what I ran into on the ysus board, just ordered the hybrid.
