Re: PHILIPS 42PFL5432D/37 Power Supply troubles

I have tested the pins from the power board to the main board and the pins going to both master and slave inverter boards. I don't see any capacitors that are bloated. Unfortunately, after two days of the tv running almost non stop, and always being plugged in, it has never malfunctioned. I am going to put it back together and wait for it to malfunction again. Thanks for all the help and I am sure I will be back.

Re: PHILIPS 42PFL5432D/37 Power Supply troubles

I had similar problem with my Philips 42" LCD TV, chirping sound was comming and the power on light (blue light) was flickering. i opend and replaced 3no.s capacitior 1500,35v which was little popped up at top BUT no use... then i found 2 Diodes (Zener Diodes) which was getting hot, (D902, D904) removed (original was P6KE120A) and replaced with 1N4007, after that TV is working fine.

        cost of Diode was 0.3USD

Re: PHILIPS 42PFL5432D/37 Power Supply troubles

5vdc stby is needed for the remote to turn on set and for the main board to tell the SMPS to turn on. After various check it will turn on the inverters for backlighting. if there are any problems then the main board will tell the power supply to turn off.
If you have 5 volts have meter ready to test the 12 or 15 vdc and 24vdc on supply. They may not be marked! Then you will need a schematic. There are feed back pins on SMPS that is used for control thus bypassing that board fr testing purposes only!!!!
Remove the plug rom the main board. Jumper a 200 ohm resistor from 5vdc to the on pin on the SMPS this replaces the comand from the main board. Does the supply stay on?
Do the same for tosurn on inverter 24vdc. Is there a short across the wired to the inverters? Sometimes if you disconnect a plug you remove a shored board plugged into the supply that causes it to shut down.
                    Hope this helps.

I have a Phillips 42PFL5432D/37 and need a capacitor C955 it is a 2200mf 16v CapXon. The list of capacitors posted earlier no longer has a replacement available. Can anyone suggest a replacement? Online would be great, if not I live in Batesville, Indiana

you can use a 25v 2200uf but here is a good replacement just check the height and size so that it will fit into the spot needed and not stick up too high or be too big of a diameter. shipping is usually cheaper at digikey if you use usps option. as to where if you order from mouser it is 4.99 and you don't have any options because that is the lowest.so if you need anything else i advise on getting what you need all in 1 order.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

                                    by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Philips 42PFL5432D/37 power supply issue no 12v
                                    by Ifixstuff9
I have a Philips TV that shows no signs of life when plugged in - no standby LED, no response to buttons, no noises, nothing. This model is well known for having bad caps, so I started by replacing a few of them (3x 35v 1500uf and 1x 2200uf 16v). I don't know the history of the TV but it looks like someone's been at it before because some of the solder joints looked really bad, so I re soldered them as well.
