    19" polariod TLA-01511c loses backlight

been over this one a little, this ones actually my first victim form way back when. At the time it was torn down and checked for bad caps. Thats as far as i went. WHen powered on, it works ok for 10-20 secs then the backlight goes out. Seems to have a hint of pink in the whites for some reason also.

have any ideas? going to check the inverters now..

Pink is an indication that the ccfls are dying.

Shows how much i know heh.. not much.

That would make sense. Ive checked over everything now, all fuses and "0 ohm resistors", checked the primary and secondary of the little transformer for the ccfl, followed the taced back to the trsnsistors that kick it on and they check ok as well ( no shorts)

i guess im going to take this lcd apart and have a look. Gotta learn sometime. I actually have a 19" dell lcd thats cracked, but thee backlights still work in that... hmmmmmm...

Well we have a conformed ccfl failure.

Bummer is i canot find my parts lcd to rob the ccfls out of. Oh well.
        This thing is toasty man!!!

SO today ive learned that when ccfls start to go bad, the screen gets pink. Ive also learned how NOT to take a lcd panel apart, howeve ri do still have a good lcd itself. I learned to be very careful with the diffusers, you would almost need to setup a hospital clean room when you mess with those.

But this tv was free from way back when, mabye someday ill find a compatible lcd assy to jam in there or itll be good for parts to fix other tvs with. Cool man! The more i tinker with these the more i absoultely love it!

tried to upload pics again and it failed, going to do some homework and figure out why...

lets try this one more time

When using manage attachments, scroll down to see the max resolution and MB size for each type of attachment.

I never had a problem uploading pics here using manage attachments.

yeah my issue was that i have a high end camera, so the pics filesize is super huge. WOrks out ok, i just have to crop the hell out of them to bring the filesize down. Once again the issue is the rookie not the website lol.

I love this place. I love tinkering with these tvs. I just wish i could make a living working on these units.

I know on my camera, I can choose resolution, fine, superfine, etc so I don't have to crop too much.

One of the easiest programs to use is Vueprint. It's free (note the serial number when you download it).

It allows you to crop, and allows resizing a picture. So take the picture with your hi-resolution camera, crop off the extra, resize so the largest dimension is 2000 pixels (by default it preserves the aspect ratio), and save.

If you're using Windows 7, Vista or 64-bit XP, you might need to turn off Data Execution Protection (DEP) for VuePrint.
                    uhm.. that's a no-go right there..

this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
                      by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

                      No Backlight Macbook A1990 820-01041
                      by Comp_Pro
                      Hello all,

Am trying to figure out this backlight issue with this A1990 Macbook Pro.

                      Tests performed:

There is no backlight even with a good screen.
Backlight IC is receiving the correct support voltages.
                      Fuse F8400 ok
                      Current sense resistor R8400 ok
Backlight IC is receiving 3.3V on enable pin.
Backlight IC receiving voltage from PPBUS_G3H, aprox 12.5V.
Backlight IC receiving 5V from PP5V_G3S
Backlight IC BKLT_SCL and BKLT_SDA both measure 0.545V diode mode to ground
                      I2C_BKLT_SCL and I2C_BKLT_SDA both measure...

                      LCD TV Green/Pink screen problem
                      by jimjoe123
I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.

Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.

                      Then each time...

iPad Pro 12.9 5th Gen Backlight Issue
                      by cheebster
Hello, got an iPad Pro A2378 12.9 5th gen with no backlight. Got another test unit without screen, tested the screen, still no backlight with the test unit.
Figured out the backlight on the screen was bad, ordred a new backlight from mobilesentrix, *carefully replaced it* without damaging the lcd, oh well.
Final result, issue is still there, the screen has no back lights. So i'm back to square one, with 3 hours less and 100$ out, issue still on the screen.
The panel is still ok, i can see the apple in the middle of the screen when it kicks in, just no backlight.
                      Anyone...
