Philips 58PUS7805/12 showed no picture; after T-Con replacement, shows halo

Hello, this is my first post on this forum, and my first attempted to repair a TV.

My Philips 58PUS7805/12 stopped working recently. It is not that old, about 5 years. We were on a trip for a few days and when we came back, it had stopped working out of a blue (Perhaps our house was hit by a lightning strike? Don't know.)

Read from a guide that I should test if the screen shows picture with one of the T-Con cables disconnected. Did that, it showed perfect picture (first on left, later on right side).

Read also that we should test what happens if we start TV with one cable working and then connect the second cable. Did that, got perfect picture on the first try; however, on second and third attempt, TV showed some weird stripes on full screen, so we stopped trying that.

Ordered a T-Con board replacement (mine was CCPD-TC575-009 V1.0STCON575G). Initially they sent a wrong one, CCPD-TC695-002 V1.0STCON695G. Tried it nonetheless. It showed full picture, but with a certain halo. Did "reset settings" from TV, same result.

Asked for an identical-to-original T-Con, they sent a CCPD-TC575-009 V1.0STCON575G. However, the result is the same - shows full picture, with a certain halo. Sometimes when I turn on the TV, the problem is not there for a few seconds and then appears (and then it is there constantly)

Currently, when we start the TV with only one of the T-Con cables connected, the image is OK for a couple of seconds, and then the halo kicks in (on that side of the screen). This is currently the same with old and new T-Con.

Also, checked "client service mode" (or how it is called) to see if it reports any errors; it shows just 000...000.

About the halo: it seems to be a deterministic pattern (see image). This is best understandable if we do "reset settings" on TV - there is a spinner in middle of the screen (see image) - when it turns, there are stripes that move above it in a deterministic pattern. It's almost if every pixel has multiple (lighter) copies of it copied above it. Sorry for the low quality image - I intended to upload a 5s 1.5mb video of the effect for clarity, but that attachment type does not seem to be supported. Video shows the effect best. Perhaps I could upload .rar of that video?

We thought that perhaps we introduced some dust into the TV cables by repeatedly opening and closing the set, so we tried to clean the T-Con and main board cables with Isopropyl alcohol gently. That did not have any effect.

What should be the next step of diagnosing the issue?

    Thanks in advance!

Dang, I wish I'd known that.

The weird thing is that when I start up TV, it works perfectly for first ~10s, and then slowly the problems start to appear.

What would be a reasonable next step? Should I try replacing the motherboard as well? Or is it time to scratch this DIY repair project and go to a professional repair shop?

i dont know where did you read to connect ribbon cable between T-CON and Panel while TV working.... how about sparking or wrong sitting the cable !!!
let hope you didnt damaged the panel buffer boards... so no need MB replacment.. you may have this:
1- the firmware of the replacement T-CON didn't match the main firmware on MB.. so you can downgrade with upgrade_loader firmware..
yours TV if yours info correct PUS7805 then its not 5 years old... its 2020 model and its android TV.
go to this home page under chassis TPM206E 2020 download the firmware as i mentioned before ( TPM206E_201.003.098.001 from Date: 2021/04/08 )
Notice to use upgrade_loader firmware... yours USB stick should be formated fat32 MBR mode.

after successful downgrade.. let the TV updated via internet

Huh, you are right, it is just 3 years old.

I will try downgrading the firmware.

          Thanks for help!

Did that, no change. Flickering ensued immediately after software re-install via USB. If motherboard is not a likely culprit here, what would be the next reasonable step?

            Thanks in advance,

put yours original T-CON after you inspect the ribbon cable from both side carefully.... after using the original T-CON play the firmware again for downgrade

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
                by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
                by Daren87
                Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

Lg TCon test pins for screen test
                by alltvrepairs
                Hi,
i have a 65 Panasonic TX-65HX710E using vestel 17MB170 main and Lg tcon.

Few drops of water fell probably near COF and have no display. Tried removing tabs but no.part of display present as if tcon fuse open. However 12v is present and tcon can be felt warm enough that supplies are present. Backlight and sound ok.

Anyone knows if this TCon 6870c-0805A has any special test pins for rgb test?

                Appreciate your help....

                TCON and self diagnosis!
                by angelos
                Hi Guys.
I have experienced something rather unique and need to find out by the forum what to make of it.
I got in this set, a JVC or Telefunken LED TV whose complaint is that sometimes the set comes up blank with the back lights running. So I switched on and yes there was a blank screen and back lights were running. I checked the fuse on the TCON and sometime later I lifted the set off the table to check the image (the TV has no feet to let it stand upright) and noticed the set was cycling red, green blue, test pattern, blank then all over again doing this. Suddenly the no signal...
