    PHILIPS 42PFL7008k/12 HARDWARE UPGRADE(REQUIRED HARDWARE/EXPERIENCES)!!

Hello everyone! I am the owner of a Philips 42PFL7008k/12 TV! It served me well all the years. Sometimes it used to get "stuck", after which I used to disconnect it from the voltage, hold the power button on the device for about 30 seconds, and after turning it on again, it worked like new!Only once it threw something like no software! Now it happened that it won't turn on anymore, the red LED blinks twice!Do you have any suggestions? They are probably not cost effective to repair, but I am sorry to get rid of it, it has served me well and looks like new!The only downside is the slow software! Now I see these upgrade kits! What are the experiences with it......

Just to be sure, if u are skilled enough to make smd solderings, try to add solder and refresh the discrete components on the under side of the board under the cpu, especially resistors, lets we see..

Greetings! Unfortunately, I'm not an expert in repairs of this kind! And they ask too much for reballing! And the upgrade kit has appeared again, and has become more expensive! With postage, it would cost around 200 EUR, and I've lost the 3D option! I don't even know what to do now!

200 EUR, that is too much to put into a 42 philips or any philips, might be time to recycle that one and try a different tv, philips are junk imo.

No. For me personally, Philips is the best TV, primarily because of the Ambilight technology combined with Android! I've had 4 of them so far, three of them I still use... and in about 10 years, this is the first failure on them! Of course, they go a little crazy here and there, but after a restart, they're like new!

Davi....., of course I know how to solder something, but I don't have the necessary knowledge or experience for such a serious procedure! And not even the equipment...! I would like a video where I can see the necessary procedure, please!

Yes Philips of some years ago was my favourite TV and often the best...
now i don't know..anyway Youtube is the place where to find tons of guides on soldering, search smd soldering, get a 0,5mm tin wire, an 1mm cone shape tip and decent low power soldering iron, put 3seconds the tip on the component, put tin wire on the sol. tip to get it melt then fast slide it to the component, add very small quantity..

I'll take a look! If it wasn't for the processor, I would have tried something a long time ago! Thank you. Greetings!

This is a pretty accurate ranking, with the exception they pushed samsung up way too high, 8-12 are all junk: https://www.slashgear.com/1238354/12...worst-to-best/

Hardware firewall to block ad servers?
                        by Hondaman
I found an interesting summary on a wiki that Youtube "right to repair" enthusiast Louis Rossman put up. He suggested I could use a hardware firewall and pfSense as a firewall, and use pfSenseNG as an ad blocker. Or use OPNSense as a similar alternative. Seems like it would be easy to set up, but it only runs on the hardware supported by BSD. (I'm sure the developers and maintainers of BSD are super-busy and cannot support every single piece of hardware out there, so I can't fault them.)

The trick, apparently, is to "assign IP address lists from sites like I-blocklist...

                        DIY NAS Service Life (Hardware)
                        by nobbnobb1
So I'm probably a decade behind on this, but my current NAS is a low power machine I built in 2009. It was originally running Windows Home Server, then eventually I migrated to Windows 10 using Storage Spaces for my drive expandability and redundancy. Despite being slow for W10, I love the familiarity and functionality so I never bothered getting into NAS specific OS.

Hardware wise, it's got 4x drives but the hardware is all super low draw, so the Antec EarthWatts EA380D power supply is barely above ambient. This PSU is apparently known for capacitor issues but when I went in to...

Some of the newest laptops have the capability to automatically update the bios from Microsoft update.
If its enabled there will be Hardware ID listed in device manager under

                        Firmware - System Firmware - Details - Property - Hardware ID`s - UEFI\RES_

                        Example: UEFI\RES_{5E28725C-AA01-4AAA-9E44-414B5EE2EA44}

Entering the hardware ID {without the curly brackets} at https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx
will show a list of available updates. The downloads are cab files, they can be extracted with winrar or 7-zip.
