Vizio VP50hdtv20a 5 blinks ps board any suggestions?

Ok I am working on a Vizio vp50hdtv20a . Tv powers up light stays on in front , relay clicks on then off. Power supply board has green light on it blinks 5 times. I also have noticed on board below the main board (logic) has 3 lights that light up for about 10 seconds from initial turn on. I checked fuses all are good . Even the disc ones and the rectangular smaller ones. I see no caps so far that look bad or anything burned. I think I am gonna start popping caps out of the board and start testing but figured I would come on here first to see if anyone might know of a common problem or even give me a known area to start. Id be happy with any kind of help . Just want to find out whats wrong so I know I am ordering the right parts . ty for reading my post .

That uses a Samsung panel. I believe the 5 blinks indicates a power supply problem. Usually the output voltages are labeled on the power supply connectors. The first step would be to check them. One or more may be missing, or seriously out of spec.

Also, what is the model number of the plasma panel? It should be on a small label on the back of the panel (NOT the back of the TV). With that information we can track down a service manual for the plasma panel, which includes the power supply.

yes the panel is samsung model # s50hw-yd02. I will start checking ps supply voltages here in a few min , ty so much for your help .

I also started looking for the service manual for it , and can't find one anyone know where I would get 1. Even if I have to pay I would be more then happy to

How about posting some pictures of the set (inside guts). I have seen a different set with these symptoms.

I've come up blank on a service manual for either the panel or for the TV. I thought I was on a hot lead that referenced the 5 blinks on the power supply, then discovered that was posted by you.

Ok Here are some pics , I have tested some spot that were labeled on the ps board , ones labled were 5v and 12v , some where there when the tv was in on mode and others were there only for the few seconds on turn on . Im still searching for the schematic atm so I could try to test some more.

Sanyo DP50747 (Chassis P50747-00) uses the same power supply, I know there is a service manual on the web but you need to pay $5 to download.

well I paid the $5 to be a member to get that manual and no schematic of the ps unit , they do show the power circuit as in on the main board , but is different main board then the vp50hdtv20a

Plasma TVs are a slightly different animal. In a conventional TV the entire set is often built on a single board, the schematic covers everything, including the power supply.

With a plasma TV, the manufacturer buys a plasma panel assembly from their supplier (in this case, Samsung). The assembly consists of the plasma panel, the various sustain and buffer boards, the main control board (hidden behind the main signal board), and the power supply.

The TV manufacturer (in this case, Vizio) adds their main signal board, audio amp, plastic case, stand, speakers, etc. Their schematic does not cover the plasma panel assembly.

Again, the best I can suggest is to check every output voltage from the power supply.

Ok so I started to mess around with the tv again since the wife is getting angry at me since i have had this thing on the kitchen table for past few weeks lol. I took Voltage tests from all the plugs off the ps board and the voltages are under the pins in the diagram I made. One Diagram is for When the TV Turns on Right away before relay clicks off . Other is after the relay clicks off , and the other is just showing what plugs go where . Also for some reason I didnt see that on the ps board it labels what the led blinks mean . This one blinks 5 times and under 5 times it says Vamp UVP. So I hope that will help . Also While I was taking Voltage tests my buddy says what would happen if I unplugged a jumper(CN8010) that was next to the blinking fault led on the ps board . Well I did and The Backlight came on and i Could here the Y and X main boards hum and led's on logic main board stayed on . I put the jumper back on like it should be and just the green light on front and 5 blinks of led on ps board just like it used to be. Well I appreciate any help that anyone can give thank you for looking at my post .

UVP = Under Voltage Protection

You might have a problem with that AC-12V AC DET (Detect maybe)
This may be a voltage feedback to monitor the 12V.
Just a guess.

well I just realized that i tested the ac 12v on dc with the mm. Tested for ac i get a few volts that drop to 0. Well all i can do is keep testing stuff...

also ac12v should be 12v ac even if the relay clicks off?

well for some reason i think its the main board , so I ordered the main board was only $101 to the door. So if that Don't work Ill order the Power Supply board which is $120. I paid 15$ for the tv so if I have to sink 100-220$ into it will still be worth it imo , and not like I can't turn around and sell board if i don't need it or keep as spare cause ya never know Will keep updated so next person that has same problem as me can know what to do .

Well replaced the main board , still got the 5 blinks and nothing, took off that jumper cn8010 and tv powered on , picture is on now everything works but the sound . So leads me to beleive the audio board is shot also . Gonna order one they don't cost that much . Is that what anyone of you would guess? well till audio board comes in I am gonna leave it alone.

Well I replaced the audio board . still get 5 blinks and nothing , take off that jumper cn8010 tv powers up picture comes on , still no sound . any suggestions? this thing is driving me crazy

Well I sat down tonight and worked on the tv some more , I just barely moved the va voltage adjustement and tv fired up with sound , no more blinking on the ps with cn8010 jumper on like it is supposed to be . Tv is working great and still on YAY! not bad for 115$ total investment Im figuring the tv repair guy that had the tv before me ajusted the va voltage and never set it back trying to fix it . The main board was bad still I retried it so I did also still need that too . Im so happy now and thank you everyone that helped me
