    aluminum tape/foil is better

Also kapton or similar heat resistant tape on the plastic connector

You can try flux and retouch them with leaded solder
will make it easier to remove then.

the tv uses the diodes only in a case of over voltage so for a test aren't necessary, but must be populated next soonest possible. I have never done this procedure, i can only try to suggest you the smallest nozzle and the lowest possible air pressure with high temperature cause the diode packs are ultra small, you need a decent air station, some skill, good eyes, steady hand, a decent plier for smd works, no expensive things to be clear..
If you have a cutter with brand new blade you can try detach it by small pressure..

Now I understand what you are saying. Your are saying that the fail possibly is dynamic and only fails under load. So yes in this case it would be impossible to test with mm. The screen looks perfect for the first 1 or 2 seconds after powering on. But then the lines appear. So you are correct, the problem is dynamic. I am just so afraid of causing other damage while trying to remove them. The tv is very large and the panel boards sit at an angle so it is very difficult to get the proper angle. I do have a hot air station but that may be to risky die to the proximity of the ribbon cable connector. I will have to shield it very well. The blob of solder method may work but due to the angle of the board, I'm afraid solder will just run down the board. I will keep thinking of a good method.

Question, should the tv still work with those diodes removed?

if they are tvs diodes the fail is shorted . look up the datasheet pinouts and look for shorts . semiconductors have a habit of failing short .

Davi.p, is there any method you know of to try and guess the possibly bad protection diode before I start removing one by one? What about freeze spray? I did try and get a temerature reading using infrared thermometer but I could not get any readings that seemed abnormally hot.

So you suggest removing the protection diodes one by one until the problem disappears if it disappears? I suppose I can try and do that. I have nothing to lose at this point.

Sorry Davi.p, I didn't realize you had asked for a photo of the T-con. Here it is.

Also, Here are some photos when I blocked various pins of the ribbon cables with kapton tape

I never said that. I appreciate your help. I am just asking a question.

Ok maybe you can explain to me what symptoms of a bad T-con look like?

Ok, when I disconnect one side of ribbon cable going from T-con to the panel (dist.) board, I get no display, no lines. Just backlight.

When I unplug other side of ribbon cable, I get lines only on same side.

The panel boards are total 4 boards. Each pair of 2 boards are paired together with ribbon cable. When I disconnect one side, I get some other type wide faded line on that side. When I unplug the other side, I get the exact opposite.

This is what makes me think it's maybe something else like the T-CON. I am puzzled.

Also I want to note that when I first turn on the tv from cold start, the picture looks good for the first 2 seconds but then the lines start to appear. It's like as soon as something heats up, the lines come.

Is there any chance this can be a bad T-con board? I am just puzzled because both sides of the panel developed the lines at the same time.

Sony KD-55XG9505 lines on screen problem

    Hello again everyone,

This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…

I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried...

Sony HCD-HX80R Amplifier Volume Control Problem
    by crackedprint
I have a strange fault on a Sony amplifier. The volume control varies the display from MIN, then 1 up to 30 and then MAX as expected. At MIN there is no sound. However, at 1 it is quite loud and increasing above 1 does not change the sound level.

I have tried a Cold Reset as per the service manual.

I have looked at the I2C clock and data to volume control chip IC501 (BD3499FV). Data is only sent to IC501 when the volume is set to MIN or 1. At any other setting no data is sent to IC501.

I have looked all the way through the service manual and tried many online...
