Yes I understand, that's why I need a datasheet so that I can know which pins are what so I can test with multimeter.

By the way, thank you Davi.p!! I appreciate all your help.

Are these the protection diodes? I cannot find these part numbers or datasheet online.

Thank you, you mentioned protection diodes. Can you please enlighten me on what these look like? I see 3 components on each side on the driver/dist board (total 6) right underneath the ribbon cable. They are marked D004, D005, etc. each chip has 8 legs. Can these be the protection diodes?

Thank you Davi.p, can you explain to me what the dist. pcb is and where it is located? Also what is "cof"?

Strange problem with Sony XBR-85X850G 85" LED tv

I am working on a Sony XBR-85X850G tv and I am puzzled as to what could be wrong with it. My friend took it to a repair shop where the shop stated they had replaced the Main Board and T-CON board but the problem remained unchanged. The repair shop said they felt that the panel was bad. I am not sure the panel is bad. I could be wrong but most bad panels I have seen the vertical lines remain fixed. However the vertical lines here move around and take on various colors and patterns, width, etc. Also, the display aspect ratio almost seems that it has shrunk to 4:3 as I can see black borders on the sides. I have factory reset the tv and when I try to make selections during initial setup, for the first few seconds I can see the items on the screen but I cannot select them. Meaning I do hear the "ding" sound as if it is moving from selection to selection but the highlight/cursor does not move from selection to selection. It could be that I am selecting things when I hit enter but the display is not registering the chosen selections. Very strange.

Any help, suggestions or advice is most appreciated. Please see photos.

p.s. I just wanted to mention that I also did check and clean all the ribbon cables.

Sony KD-55XG9505 lines on screen problem
    by Chrissygizmo
    Hello again everyone,

This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…

I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried...

Sony HCD-HX80R Amplifier Volume Control Problem
    by crackedprint
I have a strange fault on a Sony amplifier. The volume control varies the display from MIN, then 1 up to 30 and then MAX as expected. At MIN there is no sound. However, at 1 it is quite loud and increasing above 1 does not change the sound level.

I have tried a Cold Reset as per the service manual.

I have looked at the I2C clock and data to volume control chip IC501 (BD3499FV). Data is only sent to IC501 when the volume is set to MIN or 1. At any other setting no data is sent to IC501.

I have looked all the way through the service manual and tried many online...

I have a Sony KDL.40P3600, with an issue on the left side of the screen (pictures attached).

I think the problem is the panel, but before send it to trash, i would like to get a second opinion.

    Thanks in advance.
