Had another idea, though I haven't tried it out yet: how about swapping the leads for the AC input around ? Could that make a difference ? In the schematic Budm provided, imagine I flip the wires coming from that coil symbol around.....just a try

It is just a single transformer winding per schematic, so flipping the wires are not going to make any different.
