    shit replacements will not last.seen many tv psu that were recapped with ebay shit kits that didnt go 6 months.

      Definitely not a contact issue, since the volts didn't drop to 0 entirely to signal a bad connection - they fluctuated and tried going up but dropped again, as if too much load was applied.

        That could still be bad contacts. I've seen this happen quite a few times with experimental circuits where I got lazy and didn't use proper alligator clips to run power - the voltage on the meter would jump up and down as if my power source was failing (and it wasn't - it was just the poor connections causing the problem).

        So perhaps tighten the pins on that "faulty" PSU, especially the 5VSB wire and ground around it.

        The only other thing I can think of why the "faulty" PSU was acting up is if the motherboard was somehow making the 5VSB oscillate due to unstable loading. But I think the chances of that are very slim (probably close to impossible).
