    XFX clicking noise

So, my XFX PRO450W started clicking. Happens sometimes, clicks few times, then stops. Model is XPS-450W-SEW.

Very common problem with these PSUs as I see, here is a video of one:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcLzGFjkUKo

Note: video is not mine. Also, it is not coming from fan (tried stopping the fan, noise continues). And on mine PS that happens only from time to time, not all the time.

What could be making that noise? Here is picture of my PSU:

EDIT: I also tried looking at voltages when clicking happens, 12V and 5V rails keep being stable (measured with multimeter)

    I would say a
    bad capacitor. or
    shorted diode.

Really? Even if the PSU is working normally?

hmm if works fine further investigation is needed.
sounds like a converter is running in discontinuous mode usually caused by not enough load.

Is it clicking even at heavy load? I assume a bad PFC circuit... (sorry about my english, its not my native language)

              Hello tiki66,
The ticking almost sounds like the PSU is hiccuping. By this I mean, that the PSU tries to start up, senses a fault, then shuts down. It continually repeats this cycle.
It also sounds a little like arching as well. Very strange that its intermittent.
Can you check the outputs of the PSU with a multi-meter to see if there are any voltage fluctuations that keeps in tempo with the ticking?
You may also need to monitor the voltage across the main filter capacitor as well.
You need to check the above in and out of fault condition to compare it.
If you have access to an oscilloscope, that would even be better.
              Regards,
              Relayer

Yes, many psu make this sound if there's no load in the rail.

But if it run with load and still have this noise, well..it's like something shorted.
                Like an arcing sound..

That is clearly made by gods and the best in the world. According to many people on the interwebs.

                    As I suspected...

This seems to be a common problem with that platform. I suspect the PFC coil and/or that glue that gets conductive:

                      No, just kiddin.
                      Hate the plattform too.
And especially the people recommending it today without any reason...

And because of the caps they assume the PSU will last and has better components...

PS: in the HX520W Thread, does it seem like the +5VSB chip has a hole in it and released the magic smoke?
Those things seem to die rather often for some reason...

i have the above ps which i change the TOP258eg ic.
Now i have power but is clicking and voltages are flutuating. I change all capacitors, i test all mosfets and all are ok.
i am wondering what is the value of R901! I am getting 0.5Ohms. Is that correct!
the colours look like R,R,W or silver,G Bl.

                        Thanks...

Removing electrical noise introduced by fan
                        by tony359
                        Hi all,

I am working on a sound processor, it tends to overheat so I fitted a fan inside. The fan is connected to the +15V of the PSU via a DC-DC converter based on the LM2596 to reduce the voltage to around 10.5V.

Unfortunately the analogue circuitry is picking up the noise from the fan in two ways:
                        1. The fan is close to the analogue section, the motor itself gets into the outputs so I'll have to move it somewhere else
                        2. Even with the fan running outside of the case, there is still some noise which is clearly going back to the processor via power line....

Surprisingly enough, this receiver doesn't have the DSP chip issue. The HDMI board does not get hot, and sound over HDMI works fine.

Regardless of the input, the right channel has noise that is clearly noticeable even on average volume level. The only cases when there's no noise is when VCR input is selected (some tracks on the board are damaged, maybe that's why), or if HDMI input is selected but nothing plugged into it. In all other cases, even when no input is connected I still have the noise.

There's some logic behind it. As soon as I select an input I get only left...

Acer 6920G with strange error - sometimes boots and sometimes not, and rare fan noise
                        by CasasElectronics
Hi, I've been troubleshooting this PC for a while but I cannot repair it for now.

The error on this PC was the known graphics card soldering problem (or that was what I was thinking), so I took a 3470 from a 5920G and installed it.

The video after that worked, so I thought the problem was solved. When I tried to install windows, I noticed a problem: the ACER logo (bios load) stopped after completing the loading bar (and that was in every power on, but sometimes not even charged the Acer logo screen, I only could see a blinking white bar).
So I thought it may be...

                        by ChristianBr01
                        Hello everyone,
I got a Samsung The Frame 55 inch TV for free from uncle cause it is not turning on anymore. I am in the second year of training as an electrician so I have knowledge already but I am far away from to be a pro.
The TV has Standby but ist not turning on. A Friend of mine owns a 50 inch Frame TV so I checked the One Connect Box and the One Connect Cable there. Both are good and working normally. I have opened the TV case and measured some voltages on the Board.
What I already found is that the 12.8V are not an the connector to the main board connector to the power...
