    How to test a relay?

Trying to figure out if this relay is bad, every video I watch online is car related and they all look way diiferent.

    Relay is a EMI-SH-212D - http://www.rapidonline.com/electroni...-relay-60-4640

    8Pin

I have tested resistance on the first two pins which I believe is the coil and resistance is 358 Ohms, which I believe is in spec according to the datasheet.

That's as far as I have got. One thing I have noticed is when I shake it there is something rattling inside. Is that a sign of a bad relay?

it should never rattle, anything loose could jam it.

that asside, if you meter the 4 center pins to check the off-resistance,
then power the coil from a battery and check the on-resistance of the right 4 contacts - is how you test one.

Definetly think something was wrong with the relay, as after taking it out and shaking it I put it back in and the unit (subwoofer) is powering up. Before it was blowing fuses.

So when shaking it something must have clicked into place or whatever. Ordered a replacement from here: http://www.technobotsonline.com/rela...i-ss-212d.html

Slight difference model number as is EMI-SS-212D instead of the original EMI-SH-212D, but I think they are the same?

      Sorry struggling bit understanding.

      not powered
      read resistance between pin 4+6
      read resistance between pin 3+5

powered by 12v batter on pins 1+2
      read resistance between pin 6+8
      read resistance between pin 5+7

        with relay un-powered check resistance
        between 4 and 6 then 3 and 5

        with relay powered check resistance
        between 6 and 8 then 5 and 7

I've accidentally broken a smd cap, just to make sure as in not sure is this a 1uf 50v cap?

And can I just use a regular leaded cap to replace?

GTX 1080 TI Gigabyte Aorus low resistance on vmem
                by cind12
Hi guys, i was wondering, i've got 9Ohms on Vmem, one of the mosfet was shortet to ground, so i've desoldered hi and low mosfets nad still low res, then i removed all of the memory chips, and the resistance is still low, so did you had maybe a card with that low res on memories, and the card was working fine ?
Removed the U1866Q and still without result, i dont have thermal cam so can't see where is hot spot when incjeting voltage.
The resistance on core is ok 0.1Ohm ((Power 0.8V when on)
Resistance on 12V 4K ohms (Power present when on)
Resistance on 12V PEX 4K ohms...

How Can I test PWM DM0365R?
                by chth96
                Hello
I have power adaptor(220V/input, 12V 1.2A/output) which has symptom of fluctuating output DC voltage between 11.5V-12.2V.
So I opened its plastic case and when switched it on, I heard constant tik tik sound from inside its PCB.
I measured DC voltage between negative and positive pin of the largest capacitor(400v 10uf) and it was measured contant 300V.
I also measured ESR value of all capacitors and I noticed that one of capacitor(KMG 16v 470uf), which located in the secondary side, have high ESR value(10 ohm),So I replaced it with same specification NXH capacitor....

Lowest possible resistance on laptop motherboard rail - Guide Table request
                by Nagy Daniel
Hi, I'm Daniel, and I'm new to the world of repairing motherboards.

I would like to create a table, or more likely a guideline about the voltage rails and their possible resistance rail.

I know that the motherboard design has a very big depend on the rail's resistance, but I would like to know what is the smallest value for a rail that can be acceptable. For example, I heard that some new gaming motherboards can have 0,5 Ohm resistance on the GPU rail, but on an older type, it could be a sign of a shorted GPU rail.

So, I generated a table with AI so I can...

Meaco Arete One / Deye Dehumidifier not working
                by CG2
I've got a dehumidifier that has stopped working. Plug it in, press the power switch, and it beeps 5 times. Nothing showing in the display (which is just two 7 segment displays) apart from the two decimal points flashing. The model is a MeacoDry Arete One 18L, which seems to be a rebadged Deye (all the boards are marked Deye). Here's what I've got so far (details in case anyone else in future should need them).

Starting with the power board. Mains power comes in at the red connector top left. The compressor is powered by the orange connector to the right of that and is switched by...

                9V relay temperature 40C
                by jm1234
Hi, I'm seeing one 9V relay having temperature 40C on its 9V (primary) side. Does that seem right? I switched 2 relays on that board and the temperature was the same (on the same position), so I'm sure it's not a faulty relay. I measured voltage on that relay and it was 9.5V DC, so that looks good. I don't see any other relay on that board having that kind of temperature and they have 9V on them too.
I thought maybe the transistor that is switching this relay keeps switching on/off, so I also checked for AC and there was almost none: 0.3V using mV range. No steady frequency was shown, but...
