    Re: PSU worth replacing caps?

Got it up and running now stress testing with 2 X gtx 285 on heaven benchmark pulling 530w from the wall. Seems to be working fine.

Had some issues with the fan, both connectors where it was plugged in were not working for some reason. Couldn't be bothered figuring out why so soldered a slower rpm fan to the 5v and ground rails off the PCB. Just a nice whush so not loud at all.

Will leave running for 3-4 hours

maybe the fan problem is what took out the old caps!
did the fans work before the recap?

Don't know to be honest, I wasn't paying attention to it.

The actual fan works, I tested outside the PSU, just doesn't work in the PSU.

I measured the pins on the board and were showing current, perhaps the fan controller is borked.

          i always bypass controllers.
i like the fan 100% so it extracts air from the pc aswell as cooling the psu.

before you say anything, i dont give a fuck about fan noise,.
you wouldnt notice it in the enviroment i use pc's anyway!

obviously you want the last one!
Yup. I've used neutral base silicone before, and it works well. Roof and Gutter silicone is also a good option - it is designed to be used on steel, and so it has to be non-corrosive.

I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards
