    Was the old filter cap rated at 450VDC? that one on the board right now show 400VDC which will be marginal.
    Typical boosted voltage is between 380~400VDC range.

        Yeah Most of the PSU's I have in service have no PFC. If the coil isn't in the way of airflow, I like having PPFC.

        After it's running awhile, does it come right back or is there still that delay? Don't forget, all the small caps in the PFC/PWM control sections had completely discharged while you worked on it, so the aux filter caps and softstart delay caps, would've needed time to charge.

        I'd make sure to get the correct film cap. You may want to clean that heatsink up, and clean/replace the insulator on the PFC rectifier. If you move El Teapo out of the way, this'll be easier. Use a q-tip.

        If you're feeling adventurous, *carefully* touch that film cap after it's been under load, after unplugging, of course.

        You don't know the ratings of your subbed in cap, so proceed carefully til you've got one with known ampacity.

                The one I put in there is from the picture on the first page and is 450V rated. I actually pulled it from a CWT PSH platform based Thermaltake Purepower 550W. So, the cap must be fairly capable?

                Now it takes about a second. However, I think that's partially to do with the fan, it spins up very slowly. It did that before though. Okay, that makes sense about the caps needing to charge. That's one of the first things I noticed about this PSU, was how few amount of small lytics were in this design.

                Such as 155K 450V? I have scrapped PSU's that may have one. It seems that Topower liked sourcing low quality film caps. (Wait for the other one I post!) Yeah, I'll clean it up. Wanted to make sure it worked first By the way, that arc partially melted the sleeve. If you look at the pic of it that I took, it looks like that even after scrubbing. It's very rough in that spot.

                                In my experience, I've seen failed Taiwan/Chinese caps, obviously as I'm sure all of us had. I've also seen the defective Nichicon and Chemi Con series. Even seen failed Rubycons (MBZ I think?) if they are exposed to a lot of stress and heat. I've never seen failed Panasonics until now! Not just one, but 3! Also in seemingly random locations on the motherboard. Next to the RAM and CPU, but not t part of the VRM. It felt like I spotted a Unicorn, so I had to make this post. Motherboard is a IPIBL-LA. OEM from HP.

                                Unfortunately, I do not know the history behind this PC, it also had...

                                2+ year old TV with many (720? 65" version has 720) mini LED dimming zones. TV boots, has sound, panel picture can be seen with flashlight. No backlight. No TV model sticker on rear panel (Maybe Samsung service removed it, read below). Found the model # through the PSU and zoned LED driver board numbers.

                                PSU has a click near LED output circuit at 1 second interval, sounded like the 4x barrier rectifier area. Protective pastic liner under PSU shows heat signature on the Schottky Barrier Rectifier in this circuit. Found a shorted diode (2 diode per rectifier, failed rectifier labled...

                                I'm in the midst of reparing a battery charger in work which went pop, The bridge rectifier has shorted and took out a couple of other components. The rectifier in question has a part number KPB305G, and it looks like it's obsolete. Does any one know what I could replace it with?...

                                Hello everyone,

                                I'm trying to fix up my battery charger. Where I found a dead schottky rectifier.

                                This is the dead component PTR30L120CTF:
                                PTR30L120CTF datasheet(1/7 Pages) PFC | 30A 120V HPTR Schottky Rectifier (alldatasheet.com)

                                And I have a spare 30CPQ150:
                                30CPQ150 datasheet(1/5 Pages) IRF | SCHOTTKY RECTIFIER (alldatasheet.com)

                                Can I use this diode as a replacement or if not, can you recommend me a proper replacement?
                                I cannot find the exact unit anywhere besides aliexpress and such.
