    Reducing ripple voltage

    Hey guys , I read some reviews about my Silverstone ST1500W and it seems to have ripple voltage. Some say its bad for mobo and other components .
    Is there a way to reduce it to minimum by replacing parts on psu ?
    Any advice ?

    How high are the ripple voltages? Are they higher than the spec? Power supply will always has ripple voltges because the capacitors will always be charged and discharged.

      I'm not sure if they are in spec , but in specs it says 120mV and 50mV .
      If I recap with very good ones will it reduce the ripple voltage ?

      one more thing: will it be a problem if I replace a irfb3206 mosfet with irfb3207 mosfet ?
      the irfb3206 is for 120A and irfb3207 is for 130A , can it increase the output of my powersupply ? or can it damage my psu ?

        Recapping doesn't guarantee lower ripple. Ripple is a combination of capacitors, pi filter on output, how fast the psu reacts to changes in output current and other factors.

        Changing mosfets doesn't change the power supply performance, won't make power supply more capable.
        That Amps rating of mosfets is somewhat meaningless for power supplies, doesn't mean the power supply will be capable of more amps if you replace the mosfet.

          Thanks mate for clearing that out . I thought if I replace the mosfet it would do better .
          What is really responsible to give higher out put ?

            Whatever the weakest link is, usually the input switcher(s) or the transformers.

              It sound to me that you do not have the equipment to make the proper measurement.
              Wrong value, type of capacitor can cause power supply to become stable. Same for other active components. You have to be able to measure the DUT before and after modification to see what it becomes.
              You should do more study and look into the matter more.
              BTW, for example that the transformer is rated at 10VA, you're not going any more VA than the transformer can handle, and if you drive the transformer too hard, the core will saturated, the inductance will drops and you will see magic smoke.

                Yea , I dont have the correct tools so I have ordered them now.
                Oh il refrain from doing that lol I dont want to overstress my psu.

                  Hello friends,

                  Looking for some guidance here. The RAM voltage circuit on this motherboard keeps burning out PU301 which is a RT8231AGQW. Copy of the board with the burnt chip attached with some voltage measurements and copy of the schematics also included.

                  I think I've checked almost every component in the circuit, but when I change the RT8231, the laptop starts I have 1.2V on the inductor for about 10 seconds and then the RT8231 goes south and no more voltage on the inductor. All other voltages on the laptop are good, this is the only one conking out for a reason I...

                  Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum. I have a Panasonic LED TV which doesnt turn on and is blinking 4 times repeatedly when I turn on the switch. The TV does not respond to the remote control so I had to turn on using the physical switch on the side of the TV. When I turn on the switch the 4 x blinking starts and repeat itself until I turn off the TV. There is a black screen. I turned off the light in the room to check the panel and I think there is no backlight as far as I can tell.

                  Trip light 2400 watt line conditioner bought used issue with low voltage oscillation going on between relays

                  I found two capacitors on the board and one of the leads on one capacitor had bad soldering joint and the other joint connections not much better and there were several soldering joints that way to much flux around the joint redid several of them

                  The capacitors were a non brand that I did not recognize they got replaced and now it does not oscillating between relay but what concerns me a little bit is when the voltage is a little bit low the output voltage is around 130 volts and then drops down to 115 volts this happens around 105 to 108 volts if remember correctly
