Re: Adding rocker switch to PSU?
Yes the two way switch is better , it could be applied to all countries.

Re: Adding rocker switch to PSU?
I bought a rocker switch for my silverstone st1500 psu , it didnt have a switch from factory. Still waiting for it to reach me so I can install it. Its really worth it. But still have to cut the metal to install it.
Yes it would work , can you upload a pic of it , i dont get it when you say wires are soldered to it .Last edited by new2019; 09-20-2014, 01:58 AM.

Re: Silverstone ST1500 (+5Vsb shorted)
Thanks mate , il check those info .
I'l also add some recapping pics and difference after my recap.
thanks again mate for all your help.

Re: Silverstone ST1500 (+5Vsb shorted)
Thanks for clearing it out for me mate.
The nippon caps are the best right ? is there anything else better than that ?
thanks

Re: Silverstone ST1500 (+5Vsb shorted)
I'm curious about this thing , can someone explain me .
I thought of replacing all caps except the primary big nippon caps ,
what benefits do I get over my current state ?
Most of the caps that it has are teapo , im kinda trying to replace them with nippon Japanese caps.
Thanks for any help

@budm , @stj , @selldoor , @c_hegge , @Agent24 , @predator0357 , @momaka
I have no words to say thanks for your guys , I'm real happy today .
I have fixed the issue.
What I did was :
1. Replaced the NCP1200 Chip
2. Replaced the PC123 IC
And I powered it up and it works like a baby.
You guys did a big help for me explaining each and every part for a newbie like me.
Thanks again to all you guys .

Re: Reducing ripple voltage
Yea , I dont have the correct tools so I have ordered them now.
Oh il refrain from doing that lol I dont want to overstress my psu.
Thanks for those links .
ALso you guys are real helpful , thanks for that .
I'l give my maximum effort to fix this .

Re: Reducing ripple voltage
Thanks mate for clearing that out . I thought if I replace the mosfet it would do better .
What is really responsible to give higher out put ?

Re: Reducing ripple voltage
I'm not sure if they are in spec , but in specs it says 120mV and 50mV .
If I recap with very good ones will it reduce the ripple voltage ?
one more thing: will it be a problem if I replace a irfb3206 mosfet with irfb3207 mosfet ?
the irfb3206 is for 120A and irfb3207 is for 130A , can it increase the output of my powersupply ? or can it damage my psu ?

Reducing ripple voltage
Hey guys , I read some reviews about my Silverstone ST1500W and it seems to have ripple voltage. Some say its bad for mobo and other components .
Is there a way to reduce it to minimum by replacing parts on psu ?
Any advice ?

Re: Silverstone ST1500 (+5Vsb shorted)
Thanks for the link , the google one is shit , didnt know there was any better earlier .
Also this one seems better and explains more from the text than google.
il have to write it and translate it for them .

Re: Silverstone ST1500 (+5Vsb shorted)
Yea , lol .
I have ordered new chips , new photocouplers ( PC123 IC ) , 8N80C mosfet and new nippon caps . lol I have spent a lot on this now .
Lets hope that I would be able to fix my psu or else I would have to send it somewhere to get it fixed may be I can send it towards you guys **only if you wish to do the job but I will pay for the job .
BTW take a look at this thread: [URL="https://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=2&hl=en&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ru&tl=en&u...Last edited by new2019; 08-28-2014, 11:37 AM.

Re: Silverstone ST1500 (+5Vsb shorted)
Yea , but the pin 6 cannot be shorted to ground right ? that shows a fault in the chip right ?

Re: Silverstone ST1500 (+5Vsb shorted)
No its not connected to main cap , but from the main cap line the vcc is made by the chip itself .
yea , but I see large resistors have very low resistance like 2ohms , why is it ?...

Re: Silverstone ST1500 (+5Vsb shorted)
Yea , I reinstalled it to psu , it makes a big short so I took it off now , I guess its somewhat broken lol .
Building a circuit will be a pain for me , because im out of parts .
I'm ordering a new mosfet (8N80) : here
I dont know even if its broken but im just replacing it just to avoid any shorts .
What terminals does it go short ? how can I find it (mosfet)...Last edited by new2019; 08-28-2014, 02:02 AM.

Re: Silverstone ST1500 (+5Vsb shorted)
I was work less today so I though about connecting the chip to dc source to get a out put from vcc , I just connected this across the primary filter caps (300v dc) for few mins there was no output from the vcc but after a min like the vcc now puts out a voltage about 6v .
( the chip was connected to 8th ( + ) pin and 4th ( - ) pin ) . But I took it off the circuit and checked for resistance and it showed short circuit ?

Re: Silverstone ST1500 (+5Vsb shorted)
Thanks mate , I had a big doubt about it .
Yea , il check in some old psu , but il order this too in case I dont find it .
Il post back when items arrive , you guys are the best ....
