    Philips PSU problem

Hey Madcappers, Greg here, having an issue with my TV and told this was the place to come so here goes...

Item: Philips 42"LCD TV- 3 years old
    Model: 42PFL5405H/05
    PSU: LG
    Power supply: 230v {Ireland}

    Problem:
Tv was on standby, pressed the power button on the remote- loud bang, some smoke and a few sparks. Then nothing- no life in the tv. The 3a fuse in the plug also blew. My PS4, SKY box and router that were plugged into the same adapter block were all unaffected.

I removed the back cover and the PSU {im an electrician so safety measures were always in play} and discovered that a disc capacitor had exploded. Unfortunately due to the damage sustained the specs are somewhat illegible. The cap has been removed and cleaned a bit so im pretty sure it reads 1kv and the 'k' value begins with 10, other than that ive no idea what the specs are.

So its time for the electrician to sit down and stay quiet and let the electronic gurus tell me what's what....

    Some Questions:
Why did this cap blow, is there a history of them being faulty or is it a bigger problem?
Can the cap simply be replaced? If so will the TV be safe i.e. fire hazard?
Can anyone correctly identify the cap and specs so i can order it?

I've attached some pics so hopefully they help, cap location on the board is c502, any help would be great

    Cheers guys

    Greg

Philips HTS8000 home cinema noise problem
      by courtcircuit
      Hello

I have since a long time a Philips HTS8010S/01 which has been old but was doing the job.

Since a few days, it starts by making a weird "static" nois when switches on for a few seconds to a minute and then works like a charm.
Noise loudly outputs from the 3 channels, even if no signal is sent by the controler.DVD to the subwoofer/amp unit.

I was thinking of a soldering that was starting to be damaged and that was only doing the job after a few seconds of heating, most probbaly on the power board
      Removed each of tyhe boards

      by theone111
I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
      1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
      2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
      3. Problem: TV shuts down

      by atkallu
      Hello
I have a Philips 58PUS8545 which have a vertical moving lines on screen and it is flashing white vertical lines like a every 3-4 seconds.
      See the attached image.

I removed left side flex-cable from the t-con and then there was half screen sharp and correct image and other half was white.
But when I removed the right side flex-cable then half of the screen was white but other half was white and above the white there was vertical lines on half of the screen.

T-con two flex-cables have been changed to cross but nothing changed, so it is not due those...

      Philips 65PUS6262/12 Graphic Problem Help
      by markolino
      Hi.
I bought a Philips TV model: 65PUS6262/12 Used.
The seller was selling it as not working well. It was almost free.
I want to fix the TV in some way.

Namely.. A very interesting error, but very rare.
The TV turns on and works. I can go to the menu, open smart applications, etc.
From the very beginning, the graphics were somewhat strange to me... I'm talking about the menu graphics, etc..
When I want to start the Youtube application, there is a sound but the picture is green! no movement nothing can be seen!
If I connect to any HDM input,...
