    Low 5v rail in antec neo-he 380

Testing it with just a 12V fan and all the rails come out within range. But connect it to the motherboard and it won't even post, the 5V rail measures 4V, but all the other rails are fine, even the 3.3V.

There is also a very fast clicking sound from the mobo speaker.

There are also a variety of suspect looking brand caps in there, none are buldging or leaking though. I'm not sure if a bad cap would cause a voltage drop like this.

What other components would cause problems like this ?
Faulty rectifier is about the only thing I can think of.

As a point of interest had to send back another antec PSU a few weeks back, it had faults with the 5V and 5VSB rails.

The trouble is not all capacitors will bulge when becoming disfunctional (read as FUBAR), my TruePower380 had a sagging 5v line like yours only mine would boot, reboot & boot/freeze some more

Replacing all the secondary cap's did the trick (thanks to the guidance found here), and that very same PSU is now running my A64 3000+ rig beautifully!

Well thats a new one symptom, something funny on that rail for sure.

For interest the follow caps on the secondry side:
      teapo, Ost, JP ce-tur
Mostly Ost on the rails themselves

The build quality on this PSU is awfull, found a dry joint on a SMD ceramic cap the other day. All sorts of loose bits of solder clinging from pins and leads almost touching.

I replaced all the caps on the 3.3 and 5V rails, as I was out of 16V caps I only replaced one of those.

Still doesn't work, in fact I had trouble getting it to start. Basically if you plug it in with the atx power bridged on nothing happens. Wait a few seconds though and it works then.

5Volt rail still not good though. My only thought is the HV electro is bad too.

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
          by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
          • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
            • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
          • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
            • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
          • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)

Lowest possible resistance on laptop motherboard rail - Guide Table request
          by Nagy Daniel
Hi, I'm Daniel, and I'm new to the world of repairing motherboards.

I would like to create a table, or more likely a guideline about the voltage rails and their possible resistance rail.

I know that the motherboard design has a very big depend on the rail's resistance, but I would like to know what is the smallest value for a rail that can be acceptable. For example, I heard that some new gaming motherboards can have 0,5 Ohm resistance on the GPU rail, but on an older type, it could be a sign of a shorted GPU rail.

So, I generated a table with AI so I can...

Acer Nitro 5 LA-L181p power LED turns on by 5 secs (Short on PCH rail?)
          by Victor Moreira Silva
          Hello everyone,

I'm trying to repair my old Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-54-55T5). I've already bought a new laptop, so this is more of a learning project. For the experience, with no high expectations of success.

Well, my decice specs are the following:

          Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-55T5
          CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H
          GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
          Motherboard: GH51G LA-L181P Rev:1c

          The symptom:
When pressing the power button, the power LED lights up for about 5 seconds and then turns off. Initially, the issue was intermittent: sometimes...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
          by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

          Acer AN515-55-528T FH52M LA-J891P - Short ciruit after PQW1 MOSFET on +1.35VSDGPU rail.
          by joshAU
          Hi all.
This notebook was showing no signs of life.

I removed the FH52M LA-J891P mainboard and found that there was 19V at the DC jack.
However there was zero volts on the two PRB2 and PRB46 resistors immediately after the two polarity protection MOSFETs (PQB11 & PQB12).

If I remove the PQW1 MOSFET, the 19V rail starts working, and I can turn on the unit - at least I get the fans, and the power light comes on, when I simulate the power button being pressed. No display.

I tried replacing the MOSFET with a new one, but again no voltage on the...
