There are 2 caps in this Seasonic PSU (They are both Su'scon) that are 68uF 35V. I really don't want to leave them because of the brand but I also don't want to wait for some caps to arrive. One is directly next to the 5VSB IC and the other is next to the main transformer. The closest value I have is 100uF 35V (or 47uF 50V), would this throw things out of whack?

Re: Replacing a 68uF cap with 100uF
I actually decided to leave the 68uF one *sigh* so I just replaced the caps on the 5VSB and 12V rails and called it a day. Thanks for the reply though, I will add it to my "in progress" bin and try it out later. Surprisingly the Su'scon caps I pulled had <0.02 ESR, not bad!Comment

by Alfiehhey Im very new to repairing electronics with capacitors as well as using a multimeter so I need so help/guidance fixing this issue
recently I was handed a family members old NAD C320BEE that they had in their loft for storage for a few years but when powered on it went into power safety mode due to a problem on the protection circuit somewhere before it went into storage I was told it worked fine I found lots of people online talking about how the capasitors are known to be pretty bad in this model and can cause this issue the only problem being I don't have much experience sorting...-

by yuzupatogikHello,
I have this old (2004?) Altec Lansing ATP3 and i would like to replace the capacitors. I have identified 34 out of the 36 of them as Samxon GR of various capacities and voltages.
I can't find datasheets for the Samxon in any of the following variants:
10000uF 25 v - this one i really want to replace because i suspect it is what causes a dull hum regardless of the volume knob position or if the source is plugged in. I am eyeballing the Rubycon 25PK10000MEFCGC18X35.5 for this purpose. So if i pay a 10x the price part for shipping i might as well go ahead and...-

by redwireMy garage alarm siren was sounding a bit quiet and the tone was weird, like mixed with another tone.
Powered up it draws about 14V 300mA with a spike to ~1A briefly during the low pitch yelp, seems normal.
Teardown reveals only two electrolytic capacitors inside, so I replaced them. 100uF 25V for the warble ramp, and 47uF 16V for decoupling.
The old ones tested OK sort of? - 100uF reads 68uF (-32%) ESR 0.80Ω, and 47uF reads 41uF ESR 0.87Ω as well so it was a bit confusing if the caps were to blame.
The tone caps are green film caps I left alone. Newer... -
by ReintarFirst of all, I'd like to mention that I'm a novice when it comes to laptop repair, although I do have some experience with soldering.
One day, my laptop experienced a severe stutter, and after rebooting, it failed to boot into Windows. I decided to disassemble it and found that the PL900 component was blown. Later, I came across a post (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...error%E2%80%99) with the same problem, where...08-30-2024, 06:13 AM -
by ajdrenterIn my search for a proper 5v heavy ATX power supply, I selected an old Antec SU-380 that I've had in storage for a long time. Opening the power supply reveals a couple bulged capacitors. I removed all the caps and made a map for myself. I found the datasheet for the PCE TUR series in this thread:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14159
It says these are general purpose, so I assume I can replace them with any general purpose capacitors, but I don't really know anything about power supply circuits or reading capacitor datasheets. Despite this, I've been shopping for replacements:...-
