    MOV Question

This is probably a stupid question but I have a PSU here with 2 slots for MOV's. (MOV1 & MOV2) Can you put any old MOV's from another power supply in there? And if I put in two, do they need to match at all? Appreciate any feedback

    Re: MOV Question

It depends on the rom you have, most supply uses 14mm Dia. size. The Rating may be 150V or 300V depends if the power supply is made for 120/240v operation, or just single voltage operation.
The setup an also be 3-mode protection: Line and Neutral, Line and Safety Ground, Neutral and Safety Ground.
So you need to look at the connections where the MOVs are.

      Re: MOV Question

Thanks for the reply budm. MOV1 is Neutral and Safety Ground. Unfortunately though I think these "MOV's" are actually just thermistors... SCK 1R37 and SCK 2R58

Upgrading Whole Home Surge Protector MOVs (Eaton CHSPT2SURGE)
        by nobbnobb1
I have a whole home surge protector (Eaton CHSPT2SURGE). This is the lower end model as compared to the CHSPT2ULTRA. When I took it apart, I noticed it's basically the same PCB as the higher end model, just missing the extra MOVs for higher capacity. Coincidentally, I have a pack of brand new Bourns 20D241K MOVs laying around:
        https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/d...0D241K/2799098

The only thing I noticed is that these Bourns MOVs are not thermally protected with a fuse. I'm wondering if it's safe to just simply install these extra MOVs for extra capacity,...

Acer TravelMate P214 - N19Q7 main power rail shorted to ground
        by mkdj
        Dear all,

I have taken out the motherboard of a Acer TravelMate P214. There is a short to ground on the main power rail (19V). I don't have the schematics or boardview for this board (DAZ8IMB1AA0 REVA). But I have found 4 MOSFETS close to the main power rail : 2 N-Channel and 2 P-Channel.

I have checked resistance across each of the 4 MOSFETS. I have the following readings:
        Both N-Channel Mosfets: nothing odd

        P-Channel MOSFET number 1:
        source - drain : 117 kOhm
        source - gate: 96 Ohm
        gate - drain: 117 kOhm

        P-Channel MOSFET...

Apple 820-3662 VCore shorted to ground.
        by barry101
        Hi, Would appreciate some help.
I have an Apple Late 2013 15" A1398 MacBook Pro with Logic Board 820-3662.
Get charger light but no fan spin or chime. No liquid damage.
Found PPBUS and VCORE both shorted to ground. Other rails were ok.
Removed VCORE MOSFETS U7310, U7320 and U7330. Found U7330 was in fact shorted.
With the 3 MOSFETS removed, get PPBUS and fan spin. VCORE is still hard shorted to ground (0 ohms).
Attempted voltage insertion on VCORE to locate short using bench supply set at 1.0 VDC and 4.95 Amps (max current for my...

5dBi Peak (when placed on 30cm x30cm ground plane) - Broadside to Zenith Radiation Pattern

The antenna is 50x50 mm square and How do I fix it on the Ground Plane of 300 x 300 mm (aluminium sheet 3mm thick).

        1. Should I Fix it with a glue.
        2. Should I fix it with a double side adhesive tape
        3. Should I fix it with Screws (the screw head may just clamp the antenna to the aluminium...

Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen No Power
        by Green Probe
Hello, I have an Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen, P109f002, with motherboard GDL56 LA-K453P Rev:1.0, Ryzen 9 5900HX, RTX 3070. I got it due to it having liquid damage. I am quite new to chip-level repair, and this is my second post, so please be kind with my incompetence. The charging IC is an ISL95522ah in HPB mode as far as I'm aware. I've been using a schematic for a LA-K455PR10_0525A that is available in the forum, and it seems to match for the most part. If it's okay I can link the schematic, or insert the pertinent page into my post.

It had some crusty areas that I've cleaned up....
