    Is this PSU worth getting?

My buddy has a PSU that he doesn't want because I suggested something better. Here is the PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Power-Supplies

All I have to do is pay for shipping. Do you think it's worth it? I know it can't do 500W but it might be upgradable.....

Well, it died before they even got to test it, so I'd say... No?

It might do OK as a 250 Watter, but don't expect the caps to last long. At least Oklahoma Wolf's unit was able to do that with the ripple and voltages in spec and withough recreating Chernobyl. It actually reminds me a bit of this (http://hardwareinsights.com/wp/xigma...rp-vc503-500w/). Also a deer, and also had a very spectacular fireworks display, but still OK as a 250 Watter
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

For about 15$, maybe it's worth it. For 40$... definitely not.

You can get a ok-ish Seasonic for that money: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Power-Supplies

            +1
If the Seasonic is the same price, then it's the one to go for.
