No brand psu 12v diode failed

    Hi I have a 350Watt psu
I was plugging in a usb cable into my sisters computer I knocked the power cord
and it started arcing and the pc lost power no big deal.

So I re-plugged the power cord and the pc tried to start but no go,
The power light was green so I turned the psu off at the power switch then turned the power switch back on after some time, the psu ticked as to power on, same problem.

So I disconnected it from the mb and tried to start it manually just got a tick and nothing, then unplugged all connectors same issue.

Measured the voltages 5v tried to rise 12v had a few millivolts.

Tested for shorts the 12v rail was shorted.

I removed the diode for the 12v rail and is shorted on one half.

    It had a STPR1620CT can I use a FEP16AT?
The only only difference is reverse voltage 200v old new 50v
and 5ns more recovery time so a little slower than the old one.

Re: No brand psu 12v diode failed

Some people will say 50v reverse voltage is too low for a 12v rail, but i've successfully used such diodes. Give it a shot.

I'm curious to see how this works out for you. Can you post some pics of the PSU or at least the specs on the label?

Looks nothing like one to me. If anything, it more closely resembles a CWT/ISO or possibly a Unitek (a small chinese company). It kind of resembles this, aside from the different heat sinks.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Agree, definitely not a Deer/L&C, their soldering usually looks horrible, and more often than not there's a wire beefing up the ground trace. This looks pretty clean, and has proper input filtering and a connector for a passive PFC coil.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                          Hello everyone,

I'm trying to repair my old Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-54-55T5). I've already bought a new laptop, so this is more of a learning project. For the experience, with no high expectations of success.

Well, my decice specs are the following:

                          Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-55T5
                          CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H
                          GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
                          Motherboard: GH51G LA-L181P Rev:1c

                          The symptom:
When pressing the power button, the power LED lights up for about 5 seconds and then turns off. Initially, the issue was intermittent: sometimes...

                          Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

                          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

I am trying to repair my Samsung Chromebook Pro. There is no boot. Upon turning on, the screen is blank and there is no backlight. Power LED is blue. I tried refresh with power and esc refresh with power with no avail.

When I measure the 1.2V rail, it is pulsing. It will jump from 0 to 1.2V then 0 again. I replaced the 2 MOSFET and even power management IC and it is the same. Resistance from midpoint between mosfet to ground is 0.5 kOhm but it will show 250 Ohm first before jumping to 0.5 kOhm. So it feels like it was charging up some capacitor. Since MOSFET and IC was replaced, I...
