Interesting - it doesn't look like a Seasonic, which is what PC Power usually uses for their recent "Silencer" models. The shape of the heatsinks (broad, flat and horizontally bladed like that) is reminiscent of Enhance-made units, but the picture is too small to be sure.

Let us know who makes it when you receive it, I'm intrigued to know.

It will be a month before I can afford it. Now maybe we could convince JonnyGURU or Galvanized to buy one

You kidding.... I just got a SunMoon SM-8800 to replace the SM-268 today. I'm broke for at least a couple months.
Rest in peace BFG. You were... a job...

Mate, I'm planning to rob a bank, so I'd like to know where can I buy the SunMoon unit and how much does it cost?

PS# I hope you got my e-mail(s). I've sent out the PWS0056 unit. You should get it by Friday.

I still think it's a Seasonic. Found a model in their UL database that roughly corresponds to it anyway: CMPSU-620HX. Only difference is, the Seasonic is a triple 12v unit rated at 18A x3. Ratings for the other rails are otherwise identical.

Could be something else, but a Win-Tact design like the Turbocools would drive the price up, and I'm not sure Enhance has a model this powerful claiming to be this efficient.

Seasonic has the M12 series coming out in 500, 600 & 700W. They will use 120mm fans with an aux 60mm intake next to the semi-modular interface. It might be based on the 600 or 700W units.

That's gorgeous. Surprised it's not dual-rail, nowadays. Maybe it's intended for a server with a lot of drives.
You know there's something wrong when you open up a PSU and are glad to find Teapos.
Why I don't buy cheap cases!

You don`t even need something like dual rails. They never exist in any way. The only difference is that there is no max current limitation per rail and thats is in my opinion far better than adding some resistors to the 12v rails to limit power o/p.
In nor psu there is anything near "independent rails" in the way that there are several controlers and rectifier for the same voltage. The only reason behind that "dual rail" is a security concern, that the power drawn from one cable could getting that high to let it melt. And this is the only benefit from those "dual rails psu`s". This will do nothing for better regulation or something.

I was under the impression that they also assured 'cleaner' power to the CPU and board, as opposed to them having to share with the drives and video card?

If you're used to a Topower product, that's true. Otherwise, you'll typially find a series of components between the two "separate rails", before the limiters, that help filter any noise between the two and that's probably the most advantageous aspect of multiple rails. But 240VA isn't going to hurt anyone or anything that I know of, so my impression of multiple 12V rails is pretty much bunk too.

Any chance it might be a zippy? What make is the big cap?

Unlikely - as Oklahoma Wolf mentioned, the price-to-performance ratio is too good, and besides, the design is very much unlike any Zippy units I've seen.

I don't think so. AFAIK, Zippy/Emacs has never built SMPSs for anyone to rebrand.

Seasonic is said to build the Silencer series for PCP&C.

You mean the input cap? It's hard to be sure, but I've enlarged and enhanced the photo somewhat.

                                Seems like a Hitachi (HP3?)...

The HG2 series of Zippy use Hitachi.
                                  The HP2 series uses Rubycon.

Atleast that's what I've seen in the few I opened.

Right... most Hitachis I've seen were in Enermax units.

Still, this PSU certainly isn't a Zippy, nor does it appear to be Enermax - so, as Wolf mentioned, it is quite possible that it's a new model of Seasonic as with the other recent "Silencers"...

                                    ...

PS. Another small detail in favour of Seasonic... most of their recent models (S12 and such) have had a peculiar design with a single input capacitor in the center of the PCB, as with this PSU.

                                    PS2. A Hitachi capacitor, even

well, since the SS300fs and probably even earlier seasonic build their PSU`S in thatvway. I have severall s400FS models wich are all a PFC with one single hitachi hp3 or Rubycon in it. And theyre very cheap but no 12cm fan.

I was under the impression that is was a sure thing that Seasonic manufactured the Silencer series for the PC Power & Cooling people.
