Re: Yet another victim of Antec! Q about cap replacement or RMA
That argument is not even defendable....in fact it`s not even an argument...
As the supposed #1 case and Power Supply manufacturer you would think that the opposite should be true.
As such Antec should have the money to build a quality PSU that doesn`t give out in a year. Warranty be damned nobody wants to purchase a PSU with a 3 or 5 year warranty thats going to need to be replaced.
Of course every company will have some PSU`s fail. Thats a fact!
But when you claim...

Re: Antec TruePower 2.0 series?
I thought it was pretty well agreed upon that TEAPO CAP`s in PSU`s were not bad?
yet for some reason Teapo Caps in mobo`s are unaceptable?...

Nope....not Topower and 75% may not have been the top, but its been very good for 4-5 years.
This is at Full load (600W) many PSU's are rated XX efficiency at half load.

Re: Have any TRUE experiences with sub-standard PSUs?
Believe what you will...
A lot of people use the word cheap not realizing that there truly are people who use these cheap generic PSU`s to power a computer with way more hardware than should be powered by these PSU`s.....
Probably not on these forums because leetness just reeks all over......hehehee...

Re: Have any TRUE experiences with sub-standard PSUs?
I don`t know if you could call this a bad experience but at one time on my gaming rigg I was running a Intel 3.2EE with ASUS mobo and 4 harddrives along with a geforce 7900 and 7 fans total.....3-120mm and 3 - 80mm...
Plus I had the 3.2EE mildly ovr clocked to 4.0...lol
My PSU was an OKIA 420!!
So one day I decided to add another 120mm fan to the front of my Case.....
When I did that all hell broke lose....
The computer would boot up and then reboot over and over.
Then...

Re: What are these caps?
well we all know and have opinions about the Antec Brand but what if....
Finally somebody at Antec woke up and decided it was time to have a quality PSU?
I understand people being quick to jump on the band wagon and you all are probably right.
But what if....

I was under the impression that is was a sure thing that Seasonic manufactured the Silencer series for the PC Power & Cooling people.

YES--I whole heartedly agree with you jonnyGURU!
To Galvanized -- no need to do any homework. Oft times I present these questions for the same reason you respond the way you do.
I find it interesting to say the least and at best comical.

I don`t see Zippy or my beloved PC Power & Cooling listed...

I go to this site and I don`t see my beloved PC Power & Cooling 510 and I don`t see my second choice Zippy anywhere mentioned?
Because niether are mentioned is one to believe the 80+ ER is NOT that big of a deal?

Whats wrong with this calculation
Converting watts to amps..
You might have to think of it first in terms of max watts. For example, lets say you have 2 12V rails - each rated for 18A. Lets also say that this particular PSU is only rated for 350W. Assume the first is being used fully: 12V x 18A = 216 watts. That only leaves 134 watts left before you hit the max power of the PSU (350 - 216 = 134). 134W/12V is only 11 watts left... So in this case, even though both rails are rated to a max of 18A (which might sometimes imply 36A max on 12V), in this case, the max is actually 18 + 11 = 29A.

Re: What brand of Power Supply is the best?
I would tend to agree with the above.
Yet in the case of the PC Power & Cooling PSU`s I would have to say --
I have heard this expressed in many different way in various forums so I will use someone elses response to my questions concerning PC Power & Cooling and I quote--
As I have stated in other forums and other threads there is something that sets PC Power & Cooling apart from other PSU manufacturers that use TEAPO CAPs....
Anyways just...

Re: Tagan to deliver 900w and 1100w PSUs
For some reason certain PSu`s have no issues with TEAPO Caps...
Thus IMO it would behoove you to NOT lump all PSU manufacturers that use TEAPO Caps as being crappy PSU`s!!
I am sure there are others who have had NO issues with PSU`s that use TEAPO Caps!!...

Re: Zippy PSUs
Yes!!! Zippy is a real fine brand!!
Although I heard rumors that Zippy gets there caps from 2 manufacturers....
TEAPO and Nichicon-Rubycon?
Probably no truth to that.
Since most people creack there Zippy PSU open anyways to replace the fan that sounds like a jet engine!!
Have a nice day!!

Re: ok...Zippy, PC Power & Cooling, Antec and OKIA??
I presently have 2 PC Power & Cooling PSU`s!!
I have the Turbo Cool 510 Deluxe as well as the Turbo Cool 510 Express/ SLI.
As far as TEAPO Caps go its very hard for me to believe that they have made there reputation for quality and reliability as well as service using TEAPO Caps!!
I have heard it assummed that they use TEAPO Caps based on somebody research that somebody had done with a PC Power & Cooling PSU!!
Do they now for sure still use...

Re: ok...Zippy, PC Power & Cooling, Antec and OKIA??
"If you check the Bad Caps Manufacturers list on this site- Teapo is on it. It's much worse to have these in a PSU than a MB because of the heat. I would be concerned. "
Why would you be concerned? In all honesty I don`t get it.
Maybe I am missing something. But I have 2 PC Power & Cooling PSU`s.
Supposedly they use TEAPO Caps?
I ask you if TEAPO Caps are soo bad how has a compant like PC Power & Cooling been able over the years to build a reputation for reliability and...
