full of fujjyuu crap.
one of the pair had open resistor in pwm chip supply so ony one was working.
system was unstable.
10 full height 73 gb 10k drives and a dual athlon 2000 mp trying to run on 1 300w psu.

Aren't Emacs part of Zippy, or have some relationship there?

What year model was that? What's the exact model of that power supply? I recently purchased a Zippy Emacs, opened it up, and found Nichicon and Rubycons.

yeah I have a newer zippy(emacs) too (400w) and that doesnt look anything like the inside of mine...

Uhh, that was quite on the lowside (wattage)

Just one desktop IDE drive draws about 30w on startup, and 10w continous, so he was really pushing that poor PSU...

Boy! I bet that's a suprise to some. It is me, even though I've never opened or touched a redudant PSU.

My nephew had a HG-2 6460P shipped to me for a little mod work. External 92mm fan and a 20+4 shell conversion. It's open on the bench atm.
The beer can is Rubycon, 400V, 330uF(M), 85C, USC.
All the small caps are Capxon, 100uF, 25V, of those I can see well enough.
The rest are United Chemicon 8 & 10mm, 105C, KY.

The HP-2 6400P in use atm but I did slide it out of the case & raise it's hood.
The beer can has a wide white stripe w/rectangles, black in color, HP3 85C, 270uF 420V. It also has an egg shaped circle with a square inside then a dot, like a logo.
One small Rubycon. The 2200uF are United Chemicon. Most of the rest are Capxon with a few small United Chemicon.
That's the best I could do w/o removing the pcb.

btw after the rebuild the system starts and runs just fine on 1 psu but i could preheat stubborn boards with the heat it throws out the back.
runs cool on both.
this doublewide case was bought 2 years ago.no year of mfr. seen.
this psu is odd in that it only makes +5 +12 -5 -12.in the modules.+3.3 is made from +5 in the backplane.
