Re: Capacitor question
cool thanks for the info. I'll have to double check the board position when I get home. They arent on the input caps or vcore caps. I replaced the vcore caps with ones I had of the same rating and the input caps were good still (panasonics). The proc is actually a mobile celeron, but I was planning on increasing the voltage on it.

Re: Capacitor question
well i have like 100uf at 25 volts or so... I wasnt going to try it because it seems a little low. How much would be safe to decrease the capacitance? these would replace 1000uf at 6.3 volts

Capacitor question
hi all, this may have been asked/answered before but I couldnt find the answer, can I replace caps with a lower farad value but a higher voltage rating? I'm not sure if it's safe or if anyone has tried already. I ran out of caps of the right size and I only have higher voltage with lower farad value caps left.

Re: The GOOD Capacitors Thread!!
haha that's a good plan, I'll try to get Dell to replace them. Usually they'll just send you a mobo if you tell them its not working, but 9 or so all at once may look suspicious. I'll load f@h on them, but they have to turn their comps off before they leave (orders of the boss)... the one that failed was a 24/7 because it runs a tape backup. Maybe just having them running that during the day will be enough. *crosses fingers*

Re: The GOOD Capacitors Thread!!
nice, well I hope they're still under warranty when they decide to crap out. The one that failed was a 24/7 machine, so that may have been the reason. Also, it runs folding when idle (didnt find that out til I replaced the board).

Re: The GOOD Capacitors Thread!!
yep that was the model, GX270Luckily the replacement they sent me was all rubycons. I guess I'll be looking for more of these to fail in the future, as we have about 10 of them from the same batch of comps...

Re: The GOOD Capacitors Thread!!
hey all, I just replaced a dell board motherboard with 6 bulging Nichicon caps on it... I wish I couldve gotten pics but I already sent it back and no camera at work. Still, I was quite surprised...

Re: Just got me a new Epox board, hopefully they keep building them like this..
that's scary lol, though I must admit this is my first EpoX board and I was pleasantly surprised, for the most part. Though, most of the bulging/oozing caps that I've seen have been Teapo's. Kinda worries me a little...

Re: Just got me a new Epox board, hopefully they keep building them like this..
hi all, this is my first post, I've been visiting for awhile but I thought I'd contribute a little.
I got an EpoX EP-9npa3 Ultra board awhile ago and it has a mix of rubycons and teapos, same as GG1978's board. Why would they mix in crappy caps with good caps? I havent had any issues, in fact its been running for a few months rock solid, but it just seems like if you're going to put good caps on it, you might as well put all good caps on it.
