Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
Thank you 370,
OK so I plugged in two hard drives and a 120MM fan, used a home made jumper to short the green lead and a black lead on the main harness. Powers on now my readings are 12 volts on the rail, 3.3 and, 5.5 respectively. Anything else I should check or are we good to fly here?
Again Thank you!
PS I'm starting a new thread in the monitor section, for anyone who would like to follow along.

Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
12.4 and 11.8 are in spec for the 12v rail. 12.4 on the enermax makes sense as thats a more modern, 12v heavy unit whereas the BFG is based on a older design.Leave a comment:

Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
You won't get a realistic reading without load on it because the regulators are in limbo.
Attach a hard drive or two to load both +5v and +12v and check that way.Leave a comment:

Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
One final question guys, got it all together and buttoned up. But want to make sure it is putting out what it should be doing, so I used my EnerMax Galaxy 1000W with a jumper in the green and black wire on the main harness to jump start it for some readings.
The Enermax shows 12.4 on the 12 volt rail my repaired shows 11.8? Neither one is under load, both show 5V on the 5V rail and all others seem in spec. So the question is is this a good repair or do I need to do more to it?

Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
How about this: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...&name=F3482-ND ?
You guys are the best, now I can order and not have two different packages coming for the same thing. I'll post back soon as my stuff arrives in the mail,(with photos) again to all of you who helped me Thank you for your patients with me. I Did learn a DMM=digital Multimeter, that was from reading other postings in the monitor section(I'll break in there soon as well) I want to do my home work on that first. So much to learn from just reading all the posts that are already up, plus I'll search see if my fix is posted already(I'm learning!)Leave a comment:

Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
Double check this 'cause I haven't had any coffee yet...
.
5G is a code for physical size and [I think] style - 5x20mm, cartridge
The UL and probably the SA are Certification marks for UL and CSA.
.
If it was AS with no circle it would be:
A = Standard blow [vice slow or fast].
S = Silver plated contact area.
.
The Navy uses AS about everywhere because silver oxide is almost as conductive as silver and the salt air causes corrosion every where including in fuse holders.

Thank you Bonez!
One question, I get totally lost when even trying to find the fuse on that site? My fuse is 12A 250V on the other end it shows "5G then UL with a circle around it then SA with a circle around it, any help thanks!Leave a comment:

Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
In the USA Digikey.com and Mouser.com are usually the places to go for parts.
The rectifier is 4 diodes in a loop.
I'm not sure what your pinout is [which pin is what] but you should be able to figure it out from this.
Each diode should read low [less than 1 ohm] in one direction and very high [probably out of range] in the other.

For 2 cents more you can upgrade by 5 amps.

I'm sure I can get the blown fuse there as well, you guys are assume!!Leave a comment:

Here's my meters, I'm gonna redo the readings again but with the blue point this time...... Pictures aint sticking heres my new readings.

110.5
2 (red probe) 1(black probe)
150.00 (then climbs above199.99 then to 1--.--)
2 (red probe) 3(black probe)
1--.--(again it starts around 150.00 then climbs fast to that reading)
3 (red probe) 2(black probe)
104.9
1 (red probe) 3(black probe)
02.6
3 (red probe) 1(black probe)
02.6
4 (red probe) 5(black probe)

See if these are better..........Just realized it says "auto range" on the radio snackLast edited by Philly Cheese Steak; 08-14-2011, 12:36 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
I'm guessing it does as when I'd try to take readings from certain points, it would start out at like say 0.260 then begin to climb and continue for a while. If you think the blue point would do better, I can post up the same readings with it.Leave a comment:

Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
Does your meter auto-range?
If it's changing ranges on it's own that might explain it.

Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
I got a radio shack Digital Multimeter, as i recall it was around fifty bucks a few years back. Its the one that can fold closed and fit in your pocket, don't see a model number on it any where.
I got a better meter if you think this one may be off, its the fluke wanna be from Snap on. Only reason i used this one was the connection had corroded on the battery. I assume I can solder the battery in place to use it....Leave a comment:

Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
Yes. - Assuming it's out of the circuit to measure as it should be.
Should be open or at least very high in one direction. [Depends on meter.]
... And very low in the opposite direction.
Part of the reason I linked to the parts was to show these aren't like expensive or anything.

PCBONEZ do those readins look to low to you?
Philly Cheese Steak
If it were me I would have gotten the part numbers for the transistors and got the datasheet for them those reading look to low to me.
also what type of meter are you using.Last edited by joshnz; 08-13-2011, 06:41 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Need help BFG/GR650WGSPSU
Wouldn't 10A be more than enough? At 120V input 10A would mean 1.2kW input power.Leave a comment:

by slimmy182Hello, I bought this Mac from a friend, he said that it simply stop working. The MacBook looks very clean but does not power on, stuck on 5v 0.42A, and sometimes display 5V and 0A (then 0.071A and again 0A).
I opened it looking for some problem, it was not touched before for sure and the board is very clena, no spot of corrosion at all from what I can see. Voltage on multimeter of the board off the case it's the same, 5V 0.42A. But then I noticed this "clicking sound" come from the board ( I attached here the audio file).
Looking on google I found this:... -
by bogosortHello,
I am trying to diagnose a Macbook air m1 battery board that looks like it has liquid damage.
However, I cannot correctly get resistance readings because the board is always powered by the battery.
The battery icon had an X icon and was not recognized by the laptop. After removing corroded capacitors, the laptop cannot even boot with the battery plugged into the logic board.

Do you guys have an idea of what I could do?... -
by yuuki47Hi all...
I have a Gigabyte GA-B85-HD3. It mostly works but it has a few problems. At random times through the day, I get constant notifications from Realtek's Audio Panel that the rear jack has been connected/disconnected. It spams me for a few minutes and then stops.
Second weird issue is the integrated graphics have red artifacts. I've seen those in boards with bad caps, so I concluded that the caps must be bad... especially because the board has signs of corrosion everywhere.
But upon closer inspection, this appears to be environmental corrosion... -
by mferna14Hi good Friends., today working on a Macbook Pro A2289, Logic board 820-01978-A. The history was liquid spill, Cleaned & replaced all corroded components & now the logic board shows 20v & .01amp on the meter. Not taking in any amps. Upon trouble shooting I get the required stable voltages 5V, PP3V3_G3H 3.3V but no PP3V3_S5. Checked the schematic, assume that this is generated from U7800. Checked all the Input/Output voltages on this chip. All is fine, except PP3V3_S5 is missing. Resistance from GND to PP3V3_S5 is 146 Kohms. First I need to make sure whether PP3V3_S5 is generated from...

by abajorI'm trying to get this A1707 macbook working. There was some liquid damage under U3905 and corrosion around the Tantalum capacitors C3502 C3504.
Removing the U3905 (PN66VEU3-A101D004) shows that the pad is somewhat damaged. I'm not reading continuity between pin 21 and the filter cap C3919.
Researching that part shows that its an NFC chip, which makes me go huhhh? And Why??? Why does a macbook even have and NFC chip, and if I just leave it out will it cause issues?
If I can get away with just replacing the tantalum caps and ignoring the NFC chip that would be... - Loading...
